It.. it works now.
I had tried the ipconfig release stuff as well as the TCP and winsock reset when the issue first occurred. As well as trying a static IP address. They didn't work.
I think the issue was the services stuff. DHCP client service was not turning on. I did some stuff in the...
It's an issue this laptop has had before. I usually think it's some spyware and I run Malware bytes and stuff and I usually just go to IE and FF and go to network settings and and i find that the proxy settings has been turned on some how so i change it back to no proxy.
But this time all that...
I get that putting a dot on the cpu is what should be done. But are you still supposed to put any compound on the heatsink?
Or do you only put compound on the cpu, and then just put the heatsink on, with no compound on the heatsink.
Don't know. Just weird.
Oh, and more problems of course.

applications aren't reading that I have a quad core. Apps like coretemp and cpuz only see 2 cores instead of 4.

Also,
someone else had a similar issue with a q6600

I flashed my bios already before i installed the q8300. To version F9
http://www.gigabyte.us/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=2629
I bought it from someone in the for sale/trade forums. It was sealed unopened in the box.
In BIOS the settings are correct for a Q8300. Cpu...
Maybe try and find a Q9300 or something like that for cheap?
If there's a microcenter close to you, see if they are still having their sale of a Q8300 for $90 and a Q9300 for $100

I upgraded from E2200 to a Q8300 yet all those programs aren't noticing the extra 2 cores. Is this an issue?
Mobo is P35-Ds3l

See where his shows the different bios files? On mine, it just shows that .... <dir> option.
It's not finding the actual bios file inside my flash drive.
I've tried putting it in a folder as well. Didn't work.
I'm having the same issue as this guy
http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?action=printpage;topic=2892.0
But he got his to eventually work.
I think I did what he did... mine doesn't show up still though.
It shows this...
haven't had time to look into this for a few days. So I tried using a smaller flash drive(256mb) and when I go to Q flash, I'm able to save my current bios to it. I had to choose floppy B, but it still went to the flash drive. It saved the bios. But if I try to update the BIOS, it shows...
I'm actually upgrading from an E2200 to a Q8300 in a few days. Was lucky enough to get it for $90. I think it will be a good boost in performance to hold me over easily till the end of the year.
Oh, these are the files that were unzipped from the bios file I downloaded.
I put the f9 one on my flash drive. I remember the motherboard saying that was the one I should put in there.

No, I don't really wanna go through the trouble of calling them>_>
Tonight I'll try a different flash drive I have and see if that works.
And updating through Windows should only take like a few seconds right? Just turn off anything that might popup and it should be fine?
Ya, i...
I unzipped one of the files to the flash drive. The one that ended in .f or something like that.
The issue was that when I went into Q-flash, only Floppy A and Floppy B options were showing as drives, and I don't even have a floppy drive. It wasn't recognizing that I had a flash drive inserted.
once i have a bootable usb. What exactly would I do next?
Just using the @bios utility seems like it'd be the easiest method...
Is updating bios from Windows really that bad?
These links should work

Ya,I have some legacy usb option enabled. Is that what you mean?
It's a Kingston Flashdrive. 8 gigs.
I'm trying to install a Q8300 into my motherboard. I'm replacing my current E2200
I have this mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128059

It supports the 8300. but I think I might need to update the bios first?

Hmm, not a bad idea. But who would want to buy my E2200 and motherboard >_>
Just a general use pc with a bit of gaming. I don't play to much games on the pc, but when I do I want to be able to run it.
The hardest game I can run right now is Bad Company 2 and that's only at like...
The most intensive game i have is Bad Company 2 and I can run that decent in single player. It's unplayable in multiplayer. Like 5-15 fps
I know BC2 likes quad core, but a video card upgrade will still be good right.
Budget is $100 or less, after rebates.
I don't mind overclocking.
I just need an upgrade from my 3850, that will last me a year or so.
My specs are
E2200 @2.9ghz
2gigs ram(plan on getting another 2)
3850
resolution is 1680*1050
430W psu
I know my cpu isn't that good at all...
I've had my E2200 and 3850 for like 3 years. I don't play to many high end games on my pc so I see no reason to get sandybridge or I7 stuff. I see no reason why a good 775 quad can't hold me for another year or so.
A 9300 can be found for like $140 on ebay
And a decent video card like a 4890...
