What I do when purchasing Hardware is read as many reviews from all over the internet about the product I've got my eye on and average out all the results between them. In other words, I've got no set source on who I use as a bible for the end all and be all of reviews. I'd like to thank all...
Oh yeah, they said they were still going to support it too. Hah what a laugh that was. The motherboard I just replaced for my new system was an Asrock 939dual SATA2 ULI M1695 chipset. Very nice motherboard too. Support for it dropped because a few months after I had bought it, Nvidia went and...
A friend of mine just scared the living ghost out of me when he passed this along to me just now.

The day that happens is they day I truly cry. Not so much of Nvidia but if this did occur say goodbye to good ol' competition and the...

Don't know what they have done but I've been playing the game with that newest patch v1.6 since Saturday evening. Pretty much the same crashes I've been getting since buying the game when it first came out and now on a completely new computer too. I keep on trudging along and brushing aside the...
Gothic 3 plays like a dream except for one thing: the Stack Overflow issue. Which is a bug in the game code itself. You'd think that after what a year or so they'd have fixed it by now. Didn't do any benchmarks on it yet been too busy getting sucked up into the gameplay again :).
Oh? I didn't even realize F.E.A.R. had one built in. I got the game not that long ago and finished it and didn't really look around in it for goodies. Thanks for the heads up on that.
I did run Half Life 2: Lost Coast Video stress test and got 131fps. With 6x aa 16x anis everything on as high...
Hmm, sorry can't really help in the driver area since I've never owned an Nvidia card.
Also try going into your bios and let it run for a little bit there see what happens if the windows safe mode doesn't work either. Then, more than likely it's a heat issue. The fan may need replacing.
My old x1650 did that a few times when I was playing around with the overclocking. Could be a heat issue. Did you try going into windows safe mode also?
3dmark05 scores which I just ran. I also forgot to mention that the card is running at 825mhz and is not overclocked.
1440x900 8x AA 16x anisotropic 3 tests (just the games): 14576. All six tests 14671.
Okay I went into my benchmark log for thursday night and this is what fraps registered. This for the the very first mission in F.E.A.R:
Frames: 93024 Time:591256 Min: 0 Max: 386 Avg:157.333
Oh sorry about that I was just editing my post with the explanations of the fps of the min and max fps. The reason is in my above post now.
Min:0 is when the game does its auto save checkpoint
Max:1556 is when I went into one of the menus in the game so the score is a bit lopsided.
I ran...
Got my 3870x2 on Thursday and have been putting it through it's paces.
F.E.A.R using fraps in game benchmarking everything set to maximum 4x fsaa 16x anisotrophic.
Frames: 116590 Time:559640 Min:0 Max:1556 Avg:208.33 fps.
Min:0 is when the game does its auto save checkpoint
Max:1556 is...
What? Not according to newegg
* Manufacturer Limited Warranty period (parts): 1 year
* Manufacturer Limited Warranty period (labor): 1 year
I'll have to question him about that again then. He's the one that steered me to get the HIS.
True that about 3 years. Which in the past is usually how long I've kept mine. I've only had this x1650 for about 1/2 year looks like I broke my old habit. :)
I ordered the HIS one only because the Asus was out of stock and of course for the free screw driver hehe.
Before buying any of these cards and intended for others who don't know, I felt it would be a good idea to discuss these companies tech support for their products. I've mainly dealt with cards made by ATI itself and 1 card the Sapphire 9000 (didn't have an issue with it and never needed their...
Ouch, I was thinking about maybe doing water cooling one day if I have to clean out this case every week because of the this new case and uber air flow but didn't think blocks were that expensive.
Phew, good thing I put that order through last night with newegg. They are now out of stock of the HIS. I sent them the money order today express mail. If everything goes the way it does with newegg, I'll have the card by next Wednesday the latest.
Hmm yeah that's what I was thinking. I should have checked out sapphire's site to get the specs other than what's listed on Newegg. It only lists the card as have 256 not 256x2. My first ATI was a 9000 model and it was a sapphire and it lasted quite a bit. I ended up giving to someone who needed...
Jeez try living in NYC. The tax brings this card up to $430 plus the 2 day shipping brings this thing only $15 cheaper than Newegg. Not enough to make me switch from a great retailer in this case.
Yeah, I was just looking at their Billing faqs. They do accept personal checks. I could always call them about money orders.
Oh yeah another big questions, how's microcenter on RMA's in case of problem hardware or dead equipment. Those things are important too.
Thanks for the find. Hmmm, they only have the visiontek version. The stats are on par with the HIS and the ASUS one. But, how good is this visiontek company in terms of quality etc..
Also does microcenter accept money order orders? I haven't signed up yet and I always shop that way with newegg.
Yeah I noticed that too in the neweggs picture line up for the card. Like I don't have enough of those already hehe. But yeah the HIS one is a go. I already put the order in simply because the Asus one being out of stock kinda made that decision process easy for me.
Well yeah, like anything...
Same here I'm going from an x1650 pro. So this is going to be a major huge boost for me. Also, this is the first time ever for me going for a first release product of anything. I usually wait a year or two :).
I do foresee them using DDR4 next in this series. Still, with the games I like and...
Well guys I'm going to go for one. Not sure either the HIS one or Asus. Both are pretty much the same in specs. Stay away from some of the others.
The Diamond has a Core clock @ 775MHz the HIS, ASUS and others are clocked at 825mhz. Not too sure if those are overclocked.
Stay away from the...
The age of the power supply for one, The four sticks of memory, the 125w 6000+ cpu all the usb ports and stuff on this new motherboard. I was just thinking the old ah heck couldn't handle it. :)
Well I got my system up and running Thursday finally. Turns out it was my XP disk after all. There's the slightest of scratches on it from where I don't know. Think my DVD drive is getting finicky in it's old age too. Anyway all is well.
Thar she blows...
Because I've already been there. Well I have. For years AMD was always second fiddle but that didn't bother me at all. Some years they were top dog. Comes with the territory. I'm not at all worried about it. The new batch of Quadcore's are suppose to come out this month supposedly with that...
I've stuck with amd since the beginning and have no intention on switching now. The market is finally working the way it's suppose to. Competition driving the prices down. About time intel caught on to that. Do you think if intel was the only guy on the block they'd lower their prices? Nope...
That's the one I went for waiting for the shipment of it though probably on tuesday. I chose it based on the rebate but more importantly a tech reviews on it:
The best course of action when deciding on the component you are eyeing before purchasing it is to look up as many reviews as you can...
That's the one I have. I went from a 9600xt. Couldn't be happier for the price I paid for it. Mine is an actual ATI one. I know there are better cards out there but heck as long as I can play Ut2k4 with maximum bots I'm happy.
:)
I won't hide it but I'm an idiot. Well the problem was I never did backup the new ATI drivers and was trying to do the driver install from the CD that came with the x1650pro. It was as simple as all that using the new drivers for the install. The new ones don't seem to care if the card is in...
Oh boy triple post. Been working on my old rig with the 9600 agp. I installed the latest drivers. A brainstorm hit me, I powered down. Drained the power once again and swapped cards putting in the x1650. Was still getting the conflict. I stopped the VGAsave service and went into device manager...
Hmmm, it's doing the same thing on my old rig. Going to try the agp card on the old system again. Don't remember but I'm pretty sure I just upgraded to the pcie without reinstalling windows.
Can't seem to get out of that VGAsave mode or change the port and resource sharing.
I just upgraded my system with this motherboard
ECS KA3 MVP (V1.0A) AM2 AMD 580X CrossFire ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD X2 6000+ w 4 gig of memory.
I've flashed it with the latest bios and have tried everything I could think of to
resolve the issue even using the other pice slot with no...
