PC got screwed up just today after about 4 1/2 months

Using your windows cd on other machines...

Depends on what you do with it! It is not "legal" to use a single use CD key on multiple computers. However, when I help out my friends with their computers, and it calls for me to insert the windows CD, I just use mine. I know they have a legal version of software installed on their system...

disabling all isa style devices on mobo...

You can disable the individual legacy devises in device manager (control panel -> system). Just right click on the item, click properties. There should be a option "Disable in Hardware profile" or something like that. You shouldn't matter if you have mouse port open when using a USB mouse...

Opinions on this system for my friend?

I recommend staying away from ABIT motherboards. I had problems from 2 ABIT boards. www.TCWO.com has the 256 ECC registered for $95.00. Good Luck!!!

Problem with new PC

Go down to the bare min. Just leave your video card, memory, HDD & Mobo and try to boot. See if that work. As stated above, might be bad hardware.

IPAQ or HP JORNADA?

I have a iPaq 3635 and I love it. No problems. Check Compaq's web site. Generally there are incentives to purchase. For mine, I got a $50 rebate. Now they are offering a $150 for my model. Also, I had an older version of pocket PC and they upgraded mine for free.

KT7 "weird problem"

My second computer did the exact same thing. For me, it was my ABIT KT7. The only way that I and the tech company that sold it to me found it was we swapped parts until we narrowed it down. Mine would get to the windows login screen, wait for a minute, then reboot. It would do that 7 times...

Stability problems - need help

I built almost the same system as yours. My problem was the motherboard. If me, the computer would reboot when it got the windows login screen. If all else fails, try swaping parts until you narrow it down.

Have you tried the Toshiba web site. It should give you the layout for you laptop including jumper settings for a specific clock speed. And, I had a toshiba laptop, there tech support is worthless. Good luck!!!

Computer shuts down during boot up!

My second computer did that at first. It turned out to be a problem with the Mother Board. The only way that we figured it out was to start swaping parts. It wasn't the brand motherboard either because we put the exact same mother board back in. Mine was a ABIT Kt7. Good Luck This problem...
