New Celeron 1.2Ghz.. Will it work for me?

I think he is referring to the new PIII Tulatin. They come in 1.33 and 1.2 ghz flavors.

win2k service pack 2

I am running service pack 2 with windows 2000. And I am experiencing no slow downs all. As for stabilty its the same if not better.

Any chance of using a Tualatin on an older 815E board?

Difference between Pentium 2 450 and Pentium 3 450?

The difference is that my PIII450 will do 600 mhz and my P2 450 will only do 504 :)

HALFLIFE win 2000

What you need to do is download the update for half-life. Half-life was made way before windows 2000 and therefore half-life detects the os as an incompatible one. You can download the newest update here: http://games.jubii.dk/download/download.sc?ID=1846

NEW P2B BIOS! ALL YOU P2B OWNERS

Upgraded my bios as well, was running 1013 beta7 before this one. Everything seems fine. I was just thinking of one thing, this bios release is very close to the P3 tulatins I saw some abit boards with support for the tulatins, do you think this is the same thing?

Asus P2B bios flash, 1012?

All of the P2B's I have seen runs a coppermine cpu and I have never seen a revision 1.12 board. Some of the older boards you have to set to 1.8 volt on the slocket, they don't go any lower.

Windows 2000 == Huge performance hit?

When you install the nvidia drivers under windows 2000 it will default to 60 hz in opengl games. The solution to this problem. You can download a program to change the refresh rate or you could manually edit the nv4.inf file and install the drivers again.

FPS. The P2B does support Cumine cpus, though if you have the first revision of the board you have to set the voltage to 1.8. Frank

How in h*ll do I enable more than 2 simultaneous downloads in IE??? SOLVED (with reg-setting)!

My limit in IE is four downloads. If I download four files at a time I can't even surf. With three files I can surf but only in one window. (this was on IE5 haven't tried in IE6, and I am on 100mbit internet connection)

I have been running Windows 2000 since Beta3, and not once have I wanted to change the GUI. The option to choose your GUI is not a thing that makes me want to change to a different OS.

Upgrading LX motherboard

With a bios upgrade supporting the newer celemines it should do 600. If you cannot find the bios updgrade it will run a 533 mhz celeron.

Mine runs at 850 mhz with standard intel HSF. It can do 892 mhz stable as well. At 936 mhz (110 fsb) it runs stable in every stability test in windows, but it crashes in Counter-Strike after a while. But get a good HSF and get a 600 or 633 mhz celeron, you could buy a pretested celeron 633 that...

Here is Anands review of the overclocked celeron vs. a lot of other CPU's: Benchmark In Quake 3 Arena the Celeron 850 performs a little higher than a PIII 700 mhz. When you look at 1024x768x32bit it does not matter how fast your cpu is.

What difference would you see upgrading win2k from 128 Ram to 384 Ram...

I started out with 128 mb ram and is now at 512 mb. 128 -> 256: This was the crucial step, I feelt improvements immediatly. Not so much HD swapping 256 -> 512: Haven't feelt a thing since I installed another 256 mb ram. But I guess it will be good to have when Windows XP arrives :)

How do I burn a linux ISO onto a cd?!

You don't have to rename the .iso to .nri - just select "all files" when you are browsing for the .iso. And yes, KDE/GNOME GUI SUX! Frank

Yes, Windows 2000 does support TV-Out. There is no TV-out in the Reference drivers, you'll have to use the one from your vendor.

If you are not craving for FPS in quake3 or cracking RC5 then you wont notice the difference, hell you would'nt notice the difference going from 1 ghz -> 2 ghz Frank

Don't complain about Windows 2000, it works flawlessly for me and all of my friends. W2K is pretty darn stable, you just have to know how to set it up to your hardware.
