Who bought/is buying a Radeon RX 480?

It better be! Somehow I have a feeling 199/249 is too good to be true knowing Nvidia. We'll see. Maybe 229/279? OTOH I could see Nvidia being aggressive as this is probably the first time they feel threatened in a while. Also your argument doesn't strike me as true. 1070's are 449, not 399...

For the millionth time, there was no average power draw from the PCI-E slot for the Strix established...it is simply not mentioned anywhere in Tom's testing. Anyways I did the deed, was able to refuse shipment on my 480 (it had already been delivered, but you can take it to any fed ex office...

You dont know that. "And by all means, show me some 750 Ti's that goes over the PCIe spec to the same degree that RX 480 or the ASUS 960 Strix does (PS. We already discussed the 750 Ti back on page 5)." Dont feel like it right now. Maybe later I'll try to dig that up. I've heard some draw up...

We see the Gainward, Inno, and Palit is also spiking past 75. And spikes are more dangerous than stable draw. At the least the Strix is in a huge way. And if you need more examples I can start digging up 750 TI's.

My guess is of course, worse case they can downclock the card a bit in software to solve any issues. My question is how much to be safe? I dont mind losing a few percent of performance, especially considering the 480 will be like 10X faster than the card I'm coming from, and I dont overclock...

Editz: I was incorrect. However, there was still no internet hue and cry over just the Strix card. Also, at least a couple more of those 960's seem to spike above 75 watts consistently, although nothing as bad as the Strix or the reference 480. There were no reference 960's tested, so we dont...

This is disingenuous because only two aftermarket 960's were tested in this way. One of them failed, doesn't seem like a very good ratio. It's disingenuous in the same way as when AMD says "out of hundreds of reviews only a few had this 480 problem". Yes, because only a few tested power...

What hell? 3Gb for 249? 6GB for 299? What a joke Nvidia! I just got a 8Gb 480 for 239! Here I was actually thinking this might be price/performance competitive, So I might return my 480 because of the PCIE overdraw issues...nope, looks like Nvidia is counting on that fanboy premium again. Well...

Used tires vs new conundrum and questions

If anybody cares I think I've decided to go with Discount tire (the chain, not online). They quoted me 340 for 4 and 170 for 2, new, installed out the door, on the phone. Which isn't horrible. They also told me they charge 25 per tire to install if you bring your own tires! Which I had assumed...

Desktop Trinity benchmarks are up.

Whats your point? Just some bug or anamoly I guess but I dont see how it in any way opposes higher IPC claims, since 5400k and 5800k are the same chip. It's not as if it's a Bulldozer based core beating it. If anything your evidence maybe the IPC increase is greater than Tom's figures, maybe...

Desktop Trinity benchmarks are up.

If you figure they can get desktop Piledriver top model up to 4.2 ghz (which I am assuming, didn't they acquire some resonant clock mesh technology or something for clocking higher?), that's ~10% more clock, plus well I picked one particular bench, compared it to 8150 and found an 11% speedup...
