I bought a W2207 a couple of weeks ago. I searched around local stores until I found one with a Samsung panel. Once I got it calibrated to my liking, I am very happy with it. I have no dead pixels and no backlight bleed to speak of. The ability to adjust it like it allows plus pivot to...

If you have the room to rotate the lcd to be straight on to your plane of viewing, you should be fine. If you plan to only have the lcd to be parallel to the front edge of your desk and can't/won't rotate it, then yes, you will have a problem in my opinion. Try to get a 22" model that has the...

I recently had the same question. I just turned 50 and I needed something that would give me slightly larger fonts than my old 19" crt. I looked at everything up to 30". I picked a 22". I have been using it for around a week and I have no regrets. If you can live with a TN, I would recommend...

A smaller res will always require less video card horsepower, however if you will be driving the lcd with the system spec'ed in your signature, you will not have any problems with 1680x1050. You could easily drive a 1920x1080 res with that video card.

As an update to this post, I was finally able to go by OfficeMax tonight and verify the W2207 was a rev with a Samsung panel. I bought it and am typing while looking at it currently. I haven't had time to calibrate it, but so far I am loving it. Obviously one of the problems with my old crt was...

I had to tell them what rev to look for on the box :). I had a worse time at Best Buy. I had to argue with the two 'techs' I talked to. They kept trying to tell me all the W2207's were the same and had hp panels. I had to break the news to them and explain myself twice. They finally believed me...

The fellow said the viewing angles were very poor on the new Samsung 2693. He said sitting straight on to the monitor he could see color changes up/down/left/right when looking at the center of a mono-colored background. He said $699 was way too much for this panel with the faults he found.

I just called around and an OfficeMax says they have an HP W2207 w/a Samsung panel (one of my choices if I go with a 22" panel), which I have read is the best panel to have in the 2207 (versus an LG or Innolux). The price is $360. Since I have read the 2207 is discontinued, is the 2207 now worth...

xtknight (or anyone else), do you have any opinions on the Samsung 2693HM? I just got back from Fry's Electronics and they had one. I had never seen one before and unfortunately trying to get any info out of the employees was an exercise in futility. I know it is a TN panel, but it is the...

xtknight, what are the model numbers for the Lenovo and Eizo 22" panels you are ferring to? Is the Lenovo the L220X? If so, isn't that a 1920x1200 panel which would make the text really small? As to the LCD2690, I do both web work and digital photo work. I also do some gaming and DVD...

I haven't decided on the actual monitor yet, however I have decided it will either be a 22" or a 26". The 24" models at native resolution have standard text that is a bit too small for me. The text on the 22" models seem to be a bit larger than my CRT and the 26" seems to have a bit larger text...

I wanted to follow up on my own question. In case others are looking for the same type of info, I found this dpi calculator that has allowed me to narrow down which size will work best for my needs: http://members.ping.de/~sven/dpi.html

xtknight, thanks for the dpi/panel size info and recommendations. What you said makes plenty sense. It sounds like it is time to hit the stores and harass some sales people :). I am sure once I have more info, I will have more questions.

Ahhh! I have too much information :). First, I currently have a 19" crt that is on its last legs. I also just turned 50 and the eyes are not what they once were. I have been looking at the lcd's available at the local big box stores and can't figure out all the dot pitch specs I have and how...
