I had the 1.5 BIOS and I had to upgrade to the 1.6 before this chip could go in.

I guess I should mention that I have A Zalman CNPS 7900 with a 120mm fan 6 inches in front of it and another 120mm fan 1 1/2 inches behind it. I like to call it my wind tunnel. I have already checked the seating of the cooler, and I applied the perfect amount of Arctic Silver 5. The old E6600...

e8400 greatly improves game performance over an e21XX?

I have an 8800GTS 512, and I have seen a great improvement in games and apps upgrading from a e6600(OC'd to 3Ghz) to a stock E8400. Sometimes up to 8fps in 3dMark06, and I now have no problems in crysis @1440x900 and all high settings.

Ready for a big upgrade: Q6600, Q9300, or Q9450?

Thanks for all of the help! I figured out that my system did not like the drivers on the CD that came with the MOBO, so I had to get all of the newest drivers form the site. I installed them and...problem solved.

There is a button on my Mobo the I think clears the CMOS. I use it when I overclock too much and my system won't boot. But, I already tried it several times. I have been messing with it for hours. At one point I got it to run without any problems. I ran 3dMark06 and my score was back to...

One more thing! I was researching and I found out that you shouldn't flash your BIOS when overclocked. I used MSI Live Update, so I don't know that I "flashed" my BIOS, but I think I had my CPU overclocked. Could this have anything to do with my problems. I'm not 100% sure I had my CPU overclocked.

I have to go to work all day, but I thought that I would note that last night, before I went to bed, I installed the old processor and still had the same problems. Also I tested my memory in another computer and had no problems. Thanks for the suggestions and I will try them later tonight.

Is it impossible to slow the CPU fan on my computer?

I used to have a BTF 90. Mine also ran on high all of the time. It was very annoying. It also tarnished in the first month, and turned out to be a loud piece of junk that didn't cool very well. I recommend you get a Zalman b/c they come with a fan controller and are quieter.

If you are looking for a cheap, decent-looking case, I would suggest a Cooler Master Centurion 5. It is really spacious for a mid-tower, and it won't break your bank. It is also highly customizeable.

OH Crap! I backed up all of my files and did a repair install of XP. I am currently at the part where it asks you for the product key. It tells me that the key I entered is not valid(I entered the key from my copy of XP). Is this because it wants the key from the origional version of media...

Would it be possible to get a new HD, and install everything, then hook up the old HD and transfer all of the files. I want to know if this will work b/c the old HD has media center and I have XP Pro. OR....Would it be easier (Or possible) to get a new HD and back-up everything on it then...

Hey, I really appreciate the help. By "won't boot", I mean that nothing ever shows up on the screen. The computer runs, but nothing happens. Fans are on, but nothing is running. No error what-so-ever. This computer has XP Media Center, is it possible to to do a reinstall with my copy of XP?

I finally got it. They didn't need anything on the laptop, so I just deleted the partition and started over. I don't know what version of windows was on it before, but its working now. I really appreciate all of you being so helpful. Thanx a lot!
