Good talk fellas. I ended up going with the 750k and the fm2+ socket. When i am done with this and give it away, it will be more useful if it is still relevant. So, thanks again every one. You all helped shape my purchase. There wasn't a dud idea in the bunch.

It is primarily just for gaming. I will do very little multi-threaded operations with it. The Athlon II X4 750K is an intriguing option, though, also. I will positively not be using crossfire or integrated video, ever.

Thanks. I was initially confused because the e5400 is not a core 2 duo, which i assumed would make it a weaker chip. I will be sure to use the E5400 going forward.

Would it not be cheaper to buy a sata 3 card and one M4? Then i wouldn't have to raid? I don't know about trim raid, but this board has Raid and AHCI.

Bootnuke does multiple drives at once. Unattended. We have been browsing external bays. None of them are universal, and we are curious about this USB 2.0 concern of whether or not an external drive acheves 480 MBPS for this sort of thing.... Its all very confusing.

Probably going to have to dell your selves. Dell is, as far as ive seen, the best when it comes to making available XP driver on what are sold as vista machines. Check out dell, find a note book you like, then check it out under XP driver downloads.

Nothing dodgy about video card assisted playback. Whats dodgy is the unstandardized Haali splitter and the MKV format in general. Becuase of lack of standardizations, it makes unified decoders inconsistent at best. When an AVI or MP4 is coded from the ground up as mpeg 4, it works beautifully...

That program anita peterson linked to (more or less) in one click basically, Removed the MKV container and converted the AC3 to AAC, and made it an MP4 file. Freaking brilliant. Now, there was a problem with the file that came out and it isnt getting the hardware acceleration i know it should...

This has been a giant headache for 3 months now. I Demuxed with that program you mentioned and i got two streams. I cannot find a remuxing program that can see either video or audio as a valid stream. I have MKVs. Never did like them for HD stuff. was never fond of them for other things either.
