In Tokyo?
Akibahara (Akiba!) district for all the crazy electronics. Make sure to street walk after sunset.
Shibuya for people watching.
Maybe a short 1-2 day trip out of Tokyo to Kamakura for the more traditional stuff.
For good ramen, seek out a ramen shop called Kyushu Jangara. In a...
I have a Nexus 6 and it's amazing. I got used to the size very quickly coming from a Galaxy Nexus which I had for 3 years. Most other phones look like a baby phone now.
You're other option is to hang on to that nexus 4 and wait for the next Nexus (7-8 months?).
Paid off my college loans before 30.
Only loan I'm carrying is a car loan. Stupidly low interest (2.2%) so I opted to get a loan and use the cash to invest for higher return.
Single. Renting. Always out on adventures, not vacations.
I value life experiences more than possession.
My...
In a nut shell?
"free climbing"
climbing with protection like ropes, cams, stoppers (but not fixed protection, that's aid climbing).
"free-solo"
no protection whatsoever.
Honnold's climb is more daring in that mistake = death. His hardest free solo maybe lower in grade (difficulty)...
There aren't many choices in the 4.5-4.7" screen size range. Off the top of my head, the Sony Z3 compact is your best bet for great battery life. However, it does not run stock android. Since you mentioned the M7, wow about the M8 for something slightly larger and has good xda support...
Never got a single update through email or even a courtesy email that it got delayed (had to find out status through their website) --- This, after getting the "it's in the warehouse, ready to get picked up" from their CSR on the day it was supposed to be delivered.
I'm not going to wait for...
Ugh... that sucks. Sorry dude. (at least you have a phone)
After not getting much help through chat support, my expected delivery date of 12/2 has unexpectedly been pushed back to 12/17. They didn't even bother to send me an email. I had to find out by checking on their page. They've...
The original delivery estimate for my order was 12/2, I hope it doesn't get delayed.
Silver lining as we wait for delivery, we get more and more hands-on feedback from other users who got their phone earlier. Also, feedback from people rooting their phones and disabling the default encryption...
Looking forward to your guys review. Ordered through Motorola and all I have is "expected delivery by 12/2". Will be using T-mobile. Cloud white / 64 gb = unicorn.
The one thing that I really really like about the Nexus is the cellular connectivity and wide array of LTE bands. I think the North American model can be used in Asia (maybe not Japan), South America, and Europe by just replacing the SIM card for the appropriate carrier. Someone correct me if...
I've read a good a amount of reviews and a majority of them are positive on the phone. Some even mentioned that the camera is pretty good, but not quite up there with ip6+ and note 4.
However, the reviews from arstechnica and anandtech (the two reviews that do a more rigorous testing) shows...
Wow.. pretty sparse. I wonder if Google/Motorola underestimated the demand and purposely limited the production run. When the phone was initially announced, the reception was a bit lukewarm with a lot of people complaining about the size and eventually the price.
Perhaps they'll produce...
OP, don't feel bad. There's probably thousands of people who missed out on the pre-order too.
Looks like Google dropped the ball on this pre-order (again!). Curious to see how many pre-orders went through, may not even break a thousand.
I'll just have to hold on to my gnex and 800 bux just a...
I may still actually get this phone (maybe a $699 for 64gig option). Just need to wait for reviews (camera/battery/performance) and see how it physically feels in hand.
Good read and congrats on Shastina! I usually don't entertain the thought of climbing Shasta past May (specially after a dry winter) unless it's on a route in the north face. I would've suggest stopping by Chico for a Sierra Nevada brewery tour, well worth it.

I live 2 miles from the ocean and it's raining heavily right now. The nearby mountains (about an hour and a half away) are getting dumped on with up to 3 feet of snow.
I guess I'll be playing in the snow this weekend and enjoying the warm weather by Monday.
That's how we roll.
This. Sometimes it just feels like people go way overboard with their retirement.
I personally prefer spending that money on experiences as opposed to material things. So the way I see it, trips/adventures that I am able to do now in my 30's... I just can't see being able to physically...
Merrell's like everyone suggested (they do run wide).
Personally I prefer trail runners (Salomon) and have used them on long distance hikes (15+ miles), multi-day backpacks, and as an approach shoe. Light and comfortable but not the most durable.
As an armchair mountaineer, I concur. ;)
Hard to figure out what's going on in that picture... mid-pitch on a trad route? I don't see any gear though... or bolts. o_o
Heh, this. Something to talk about in cocktail parties.
Something like this would be far far more impressive:

Yes! Volcanoes have great views up top. Me and a couple of friends did Shasta, Hood, and Adams earlier this year. We were set-up for Rainier in August but an injury sidelined my friend (1/3rd of the rope team). We're looking into doing more challenging routes up Shasta and maybe something...
You have a free ride (parents paying for college) and you're whining about the "ridiculousness" of filling out a college application.
Unless your attitude improves drastically, I suggest setting your college career expectations slightly lower. On the plus side, you've got youth on your side...
