solving the problem of hydrogen powered cars?

I thought i remember seeing on the discovery channel a couple years back that some chemests had found a way to combind the hydrogen with some form of carbon, and they could than fit something like 15 times more hydrogen per cubic inch than they could by compressing it. - jason

If your changing boards, and theres no integrated stuff on either of the boards.. you probably wont have any problems, tho it is better to reformat. if your changing chipsets, and dont reformat, your just asking for trouble. i changed from BX to via... my system booted and all, but things were...

Creative Labs NERO??? Lite-on???

I swear by Nero. i have an HP drive, doesnt have burn proof, and i have NO problmes with buffer underruns. nero has never reported a buffer under 97%, and i can do anything short of opening a game (even tried to watch a divx movie once, didnt have enough CPU power :)) - Jason

Anybody try running win 2000 with Pentium 166 and 32 meg EDO?

i booted 2k up on my P-200 MMX w/38 megs of 72 pin ram (dunno waht kind?) it was laggy as hell, and took about twice as long to boot as it did on my P-II 400 (i had taken the drive out of my 400 and put it in the 200, and bolth comp's are ata/33) i would NOT recomend even bothering to try to run...

Which components do you keep the longest?

uhhhhh macs suck for like everyting other than photoshop and other digital editing stuff. IMO, they are ugly as a cows ass, and they arent that fast. MHz for MHz, they beat any x86 stuff, but x86 has twice the MHz under the belt. go to a mac if ya want no one is stoping you but they dont have...

NTFS or FAT32?

Thnkig of getting a new BX Board.

IMO, the BX is tired and due to be replaced. my P-II 400 is running comfterbily on a BX, but that is the chipset it was designed for. the Coppermines are ment to run on a 133+ bus speed, and the BX is just not ment to do that. it can run that fast, but everything is out of spec. get the ASUS 815...

Win2000 sucks for gaming... a question I have... How can I tweak a dual boot?

yea, when you install windows 2k, it will automaticly set up a dual boot menu, and will default to boot to windows 2k. what you CANT do is install win 9x over 2k, it screws up the master boot record (i know from experence...) so, you will have to do a format and install 98 first, unless you want...

Is there a reason NOT to buy 80 minute CDR's?

i just boutght thoes 80 min imation CD-r's from worst buy, and they are not neerily as good of quality as the 74 min cd-r's. i dont know, but it seams like most of the 80 min cd's are poor quality. - Jason

When is a 300watt power supply necessary?

i have a crappy deer 250 watt PSU, and it seems to work fine. P-II 400, 5400 rpm maxtor, 120 megs of ram, and a couple PCI cards, cd rom and a burner. ill have another 5400 RPM drive tomarrow. also, fans draw like 12 watts, you have to have more fans than you could stand listening to to make...

Computer Lock Up...

yea, ive had that prob before, from my experences it indicates that somethign is wrong with the hard drive chain somewhere. check cable conections (hard disk and mobo) replace cables if that doesnt work, and if putting a known-to-be-good cable in there doesnt work, than take the hard drive out...

how fast is your PC100 ram? if it is 8ns stuff, ittl probably do 133 at CAS3, rembember most PC-133 ram is 7.5ns - Jason

How much does it cost to leave your computer on overnight?

well, look at it this way: your computers PSU can put out a max of 250-300 watts (depending ont he type of psu...) your computer, if it is a coppermine or something like that, than you are prob using 120 or so watts of power with 1 hard drive.. sooo.. thats like running a 120 watt light bulb...

HD speed vs cost

help! monitor heating up

its radio shack brand :) no, sriously... uh, the moniter is probably going dead or something. run it at a lower refresh rate, that could be causing it to heat up... possabily. also, you might want to check the tempature you have it runing at, someone might have turned it all the way up or...

Will P4's run on 815E mobos?

to my knolage no. heres why: 815 = socket 370 P4 = 4xx pins (i dont rembember the exact #, its like 475 i think) P4 doesnt fit on socked 370 :) 815 = 133 MHz bus P4 = 400 MHz bus (right?) you have to spend more $ when the P4 comes out on a new mobo too, sorry d00d - Jason

RAM speed tester?

Is there a way to test the NS of your ram? i have a 64 meg stick of PC-100 that i know is 8ns, but i also have 2 32 meg sticks that i think are 10ns, is there a program to test this anywhere? thanks in advance, Jason

Which P3 would you go with?

well, the E means that it is a coppermine, and the B means 133 MHz bus speed, so like a P-III 500e is a coppermine with a 100 MHz bus, a P-III 800 EB is a coppermine core with a 133 MHz bus speed. hope this helps, Jason
