This thread motivated me to buy my first Xbox 360. I went after the Arcades not for lack of money, but for a higher probability of finding a Jasper with a 150 watt PS. My first stop at Walmart, while buying some oil, yielded only older Pro's. I hit Best Buy next and they had about four...
I'm currently running 8 GB of 4 x 2 Gig G.Skill DDR-1066 modules at FSB of 400 and DDR-1000 CAS5. The lowest TRD I can obtain using the Rampage article here on Anandtech is a TRD of 6. TRD of 5 could be used of using CAS 4 or the memory at DDR-1200. My G.Skill sticks don't support either...
My Rampage also overvolts the NB when set to auto at FSB 400. I can't remember how high, but through experimentation, and stability testing, I found I need 1.33 volts to be stable at FSB 400 using 8 gigabytes of ram at DDR1000 and tRD of 6.
I have my ASUS Rampage Formula overclocked to 3.2 GHz (Q6600) with 8 Gigabytes running at DDR1000 stable. You processor should react similarly depending on how high you want to overclock.
Stock voltage on the NB is 1.25v I believe. I have to run mine at 1.33v otherwise my 8 gigabytes of RAM at DDR1000 will error out. At 1.33v it is 24 hours Memtest and Prime95 stable each. YMMV
I'm using the values derived in the Rampage Formula article published on the main page a short while back. It's pretty tech heavy with good explanations.
Don't worry about the thread. It doesn't seem to have atracted much interest from others anyway.
I'm in the process of acquiring components for my new build. My last build, aside from an AMD HTPC, was a couple years ago with a 478 Prescott/875P chipset. It's served me well for quite some time, but editing projects from the new job at night have really shown its age. I've decided to go...
