Why aren't they testing 4k gaming and other absurd things to test whether or not the lanes matter? It seems silly to go play F1 2013 at 1080p as I can't imaging the GPUs would be pushed to their limit.

I want 128gb supported. And 128gb kits available. Some boards list support for 128gb, but I can't find either (8x8) 64gb or (8x16) 128gb kits.

Are Thinkpads really all that great?

I dislike my T430 for the sole reason that the Ctrl is where the Fn key should be, and the Fn where the Ctrl key should be!

How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

I try and get 8-10. I am usually in bed at 8-9 and awake at 4. Lately I've been sleeping in until 6 though because training has ramped up.

Crysis 3 beta: Weigh in here...

I think it's just not my game... I am terrible at BF3 but I enjoy it because I can take time to soak things in, weigh options and make decisions. There are faster paced moments, but they are still relatively slow due to the physics of moving around in the game. Cod had a little bit of this...

Looks great, but as someone who plays FPS games casually my shit gets kicked in so fast and thoroughly that the gameplay is impossible to enjoy.

Actually, it's anything but. The whole point of metro is to remove clutter. So, what are you actually complaining about when you say "metro?"

I want this thing - I like that they took out a bunch of crap to save money. I certainly don't use the builtin fant controller on my Corsair. When I rebuild I'll definitely be getting something like this case, if not this specific one.

Wow really? Ads in Win8...

The OS itself does not have ads. The MS apps are not a part of the OS, despite being provided by default. And yes, it's incredibly stupid.

what is the point of Linux?

Linux is FANTASTIC. But there is no Visual Studio, and no Photoshop. And sorry, but nothing else even comes close to those two. We often talk about killer games for a platform/console. These two are the killer desktop applications for me.

Seriously. The start screen is just a big start menu. Plus the multi-monitor taskbar (finally) is sweet.

No... you still use your GPU specific drivers. I frequently jump into the NVIDIA control panel to enable 3-screen gaming. The MSDN article is a good representation of the "what's nice" about the new features. I have no issues on 3 monitors.

I'm running W8 w/ Battlefield 3, Skyrim and F1 on a 2700K and a GTX680. Everything runs smooth, 60fps+.

My thoughts so far: Even if you choose to [largely] ignore the "start screen" in Windows 8, it still functions MUCH better than the Start Menu in Windows 7. You can fit more software links on the screen than in the menu, and the search is much faster.

Which Power Cables for GTX 680?

The 6+2 is coming from a single 6 pin source though, where as the GPU adapter is expecting two 6 pin sources for its 8 pin. Does that make any difference?

What Woosta said. AJAX is just "asynchronouse javascript and xml" by the way. The getJSON method (terrible method name btw) will return immediately with the request object, not the response from the server (which is handled via a callback).

Win 8 Start on a 2nd touch monitor?

Not a terrible idea, actually. But I see it "getting in the way" unless you use the touch apps heavily. Only issue I see is keeping your main (real) monitor the primary monitor. Every time you booted you'd have to move the metro desktop down to the touch monitor.
