Apple admits to intentionally slow down your iphone

My only problem is all those people who are forced to sell/trade/upgrade their phones because of the perceived slowness (legacy hardware/software incompatibility, etc) only now facing the realization that it was done on purpose without user consent. What will happen to those people?

I know they did it recently with the 6P, but from an economy of scale perspective, it would make more sense for them to give you a new (current) model than replacing it with the old one. It costs a tremendous amount of overhead to overproduce something just to keep a stockpile of them for RMA...

Had a pretty good play time with the 2XL at best buy today and immediately turned off by the color shift/blue tint. My phone sits on my desk most of the time so I like to glance at it for messages and notifications and it was a lot worse then the LCD on my Huawei mate 8. Can't imagine paying...

Lest we forget that they charge high-end prices for mid-range to low-end specs. They neither supported their OS (and core apps) or pay too much attention on the hardware front, both of which led to their downfall.

I think the whole Moto deal was a premature one for Google and they didn't know back then whether they should focus on software, hardware or both... and that's why it was a money pit to hold onto it. Given the creative control Google has had with the pixel line, it makes sense for them to jump...

Google is set to acquire HTC's manufacturing and R&D arms. This has been a slow and painful death for HTC in the past 5yrs and it's sad as a long time smartphone user, to see the final chapter closing down on HTC. They'll still maintain the "brand" itself (to market things like the Vive VR)...

Memory Booster App Works? WTF

A more effective approach would be to disable (or uninstall if you're rooted) apps that you dont use. Unless the memory booster app re-applies at startup or run on a scheduler, the slowness is going to creep back eventually.

I was disappointed that it didn't retain that 6.4in. I'm equally disappointed that it didn't come with dual cameras and at least 4000mah battery. Let us know you like it!

Even if it's a horrible design, I'm sure that there are a lot of iFans who will clamour to it regardless, because it's a huge departure from the "huge bezels with big home button" of the past. How in the world does the X resembles earlier iPhones? Just because of the rounded edges?

I'm assuming that for any store rewards program would require you to have at least a smartphone/tablet with an HTML-based browser (and not WAP-based like the dumb/feature phone you have) or be able to access the playstore/appstore to download said rewards program. Any smartphone or tablet...

Not shocking in the least bit that the herd here don't find anything wrong or unsettling with the notch. Given that it took 10 years for a radical design, I guess any change is a good change, even if it's an eyesore of an afterthought.

The note 4 had a better endurance rating than the s8+, so no, with 5% smaller battery, an extra camera, a pen with a much bigger screen is not going to yield a longer battery life than the note 4. Where do you guys come up with such logic?

How future proof is 4GB of RAM?

100% depends on the browser you're using, games you're playing, media apps that you're streaming, etc. So hard to say what's a power user and what isn't. Only the developers know what services are being run in the background and how much RAM it's supposed to be caching...all of which you can't...

quick answer is whether you're tech-savvy or not. If you're the type that gets overwhelmed by options, not good with troubleshooting, just want something that works, and have the tendency to bitch and moan a lot when something isn't working - then go with Apple. Otherwise, android is your best...

Amazon's New Fire 7 Tablet - Still Clinging to 1GB RAM

I doubt the failure of the fire phones and tablets would keep Jeff Bezos up at night...If he's even aware such devices exist in his company at all. The cost-profit ratio is so miniscule for these devices that they're only making them to fulfill some obligated contract.
