The core is so you don't need to take your phone with you running. Considering how large phones are now, I can see the appeal. I don't like having to take mine just for Spotify.
In all likelihood, I'll die before it becomes an issue. Only one male in my family has made it to 70 and all were self sufficient before they died (minus a week or two). If I do end up living that long, I'll just pay for a nursing home.
Keep doing what you are doing but where the fat is stored and comes from is largely due to genetics. I've never had much stomach fat and it is the first to go when I start losing weight. For me, my butt and thighs are the stubborn areas.

You can hack it so that you just need to access a URL to turn it on or off. You'd need to configure your firewall or something to hit it from outside your LAN obviously.

Converter boxes often don't support HDCP, which I suspect is your problem. I can't use my DirectTV receivers with my computer monitor for that reason. Mine are still old enough to have component output, so I use that with HDPVRs.
