AMD: NB and HT frequency overclocking?

From what I understand the higher CPU freq, NB and HT, the better. No limits - really! So, you'd want to maximize all three, while also maximizing the RAM freq. There was an article on Tom's Hardware about it and I remember reading that increasing NB freq on Phenom II yields the same performance...

Optimal price/performance or feature upgrade schedule?

I think 2-3 years is optimal, but it depends on technology changes. I would not consider an upgrade to CPU unless the new CPU was theoretically twice as fast. Also, I basically go with upgrade when system is too slow to run the task needed. Like machine not able to play any new game at lowest...

4850 or 4830?

Suggestion for a 4870 with the best cooling?

Palit Sonic Dual Edition doesn't have heatsink touching the video ram, so pre-overclocked ram has no heatsink. Sapphire 4870 Toxic which I have is pre-overclocked and has the main heatsink touching the ram chips, but it's 512MB and I don't know if the 1GB version has that. Note that the fan on...

If you'd fried your CPU, the CPU fan would spin regardless... Don't worry, I'm sure you haven't fried your CPU, Conroe runs very very cool, I know people who ran Conroe at 100% load for hours without any fan, temp was over 90 Celsius, but it works ok! My advice: Unplug your power supply, both...

Old Dell P4 2.8.. Use it for HTPC? Can it do everything?

Hi, I'm new to forums, but here's my 2 cents of worth. I have a single core Athlon 64 @ 2.4GHz with Radeon HD 3870, which has hardware accelleration for H.264 and VC-1. I can run HD DVD and Blu-Ray ok, but it does occasionally stumble and slow down and sometimes downright crash the Power DVD...
