This is actually a pseudo file server. I have some data that needs to be access (without RAID) on 10 IDE hard drives. I am not free to combine the data on other media. I have to use them as is. The hint about drives in the optical is good to know- I would never have thought of that.
Thanks...
Wow, thanks for the great input guys!
I'm not at liberty to say what the drives are for, but I do have a hard requirement for all 10.
So I guess as long as I put two beefy power supplies into the Codegen S101 with those Coolermaster 4x3 boxes I'm set with power and cooling. I have no...
I have a sort of unique problem that I would appreciate your expert opinions on: I have 10 IDE hard drives (PATA) which I need to have in one computer and one case.
First, is this possible?
What power supply / case is recommended?
How about motherboard? Just something with a lot of PCI...
Here was my experience:
Back about a year ago I did this because my mouse was actually defective. It didn't skip around, but was tempermental when right clicking. I sent in my fax, and they very promptly shipped me a new one.
I never got around to opening the package because I got a new mouse...
I strongly suggest you go to http://dvdrhelp.com to read about this media. It is most likely 1X and not very compatible. SuperMedia Store even lists very limited compatibility with players and recorders on their own site. It looks like there are no really good deals for DVD-R media right now...
I wanna deal in Las Vegas for Spring Break. I was hoping to stay at a nice hotel and get a deal or a coupon or savings code. Please help me...
Maybe even 2 for 1 tickets- anything!
Did someone say they needed cable?

Beware! I don't mean to scare anyone away, but the 3D Excel (which I have had for more than a year since it first came out for like $120) uses expensive brushes. I think I bought them last at drugstore.com for about $6 a piece in packs of 3. That said, I love this toothbrush. It works great for...
After installing a new Soundblaster Audigy 2 in my computer, I could not boot. I had XP setup reinstall in the same directory (c:\windows) and when it was done everything seemed to work fine. I was able to go into the documents and settings folder and get to my "old" desktop and my documents...
I believe the zip folder icon with the little zipper on it is here:
c:\WINDOWS\system32\zipfldr.dll
Let me know if that was what you were looking for...
I have a Leadman/Powmax LP-6100C 300W PSU. (http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=LP-6100C)
From the article on Tom's Hardware, my power profile for my system seems to exceed this power supply. My system was almost identical to what the example profile was, only I have only 3 hard...
yeah! I too took a camera apart and got the zap! I was only 12 at the time, and I thought I was going to die...electricity is fun! If only I could find a way to zap my neighbor's dog...
The rooms in the Emerald tower are quite a bit further away from the deluxe rooms. The lady on the phone said that usually younger people travelling light don't mind the Emerald tower cause the rooms were just remade. Apparanently they bought out an adjacent hotel and connected those. The...
I just booked a room at the MGM Grand (Emerald Tower) for $59.95 (65.34 with fees/taxes). Most other vegas deal sites are listing the cheapest room at around $80. Simply call and ask for the Hot Summer Nights Deal, or Economy rate on rooms. This has been posted on many mailers and websites. I...
if your computer reboots with that board, try moving your RAM to different spots. I had the same problem. It fixed up. I don't think that your compuer would reboot with those temps unless something else was seriously wrong.
Hey guys, both of mine came as well. They are both 1998, but look newer. They were cleaned up nicely. I tried flipping the cable on one of them whick removed the little flicker I was seeing. (don't ask me why). I am running in 1600x1200. How did you force it higher? WinXP won't let me.
I used...
If I remember correctly, the movies are all guaranteed for life. (I know my Hollywood Video is at least)
I had a bad disk and brought it back like 5 months after buying it. They didn't have any in stock, but the guy called me up a day later and had a new one waiting for me. I was really happy...
I jumped on this bought two. I will let you know how it looks when I get it. I too noticed that there are a lot of other monitors on there. It looks like this may be a good place to look in the future.
As a side note, I ordered one and then realized I wanted another. I placed an identical...
For decompressing large archives and compressing files and video stuff I will take RAID any day of the week and twice on Sundays. However, I do not know about the 740's in RAID. if peeps say there is trouble, then you are prolly better with the big SE drive. ~my 1.5 cents~
Q: Does the HPT370 support high capacity IDE hard disks over 8.4 gigabytes?
A: Yes. The HPT370 features large capacity IDE support using LBA and the "extended interrupt 13" drive translation technology.
Q: What about drives over 30GB?
A: The HPT370 supports Hard Drives over 40GB in size, up to...
According to the webpage, http://www.iwill.net/products/spec.asp?ModelName=XP333-R&SupportID=, you have the HighPoint HPT372 IDE-RAID controller.
I know that the Promise controller will let you switch from RAID drivers in the OS to simple IDE drivers. However, I do not see anything anywhere...
Listen to the man...he knows what he is saying. For optimal performance, both hard drives should be the same as well...
Going RAID involves some work and in some cases headaches for few. I believe that it is worth it, however. I love all my RAID arrays.
You mean 1280 x 1024...if your video card can push a game at that resolution...
1024x768 still seems to be a really sweet spot for gamers and hardware in my opinion.
OH no! I decided to plug in some headphones for the first time and I am appalled at the extremely poor sound quality. It seems that as soon as it posts I get crackling and hissing. It is magnified when I move the mouse once XP boots. I have that VIA AC'97 audio chip with the newest drivers. Ideas?
Christ! I just threw out my box and the garbage and recyclers came this morning. Oh well.
I know that there is a review out there of this monitor but I thought I would point out that this monitor really stinks at 1280x1024. The refresh rate is pathetically low at this resolution and you can...
I just got the drv5 and I like it a lot. The snazzy purple board impresses my friends. So far it has been stable and a good performer. I have not messed with the redstorm OC thing too much. It crashed the first time I let it do its thing...
Otherwise I like it a lot. The performace has been...
I'm all about Studio 54 at MGM for the clubbing college scene...
AMDSkip, you may want to check out the Grand Canyon, or the Hoover Dam. The dam tours are pretty dam fun. dam helicopters fly over all the time. Those are good dam fun as well....sorry, couldn't resist.
Definately catch the best...
I too am curious about this working with Charter. I remember the guy who installed it told me that I should consider forking out the $200 for the modem a long time ago if I was planning on keeping cable more than a year and a half...he said something that anything DOCSIS (?) compatible would work...
