Has anyone tried SiO2 coatings on their phone? I guess the big question would be whether it's any harder than the glass already on the phone and if it affects the touchscreen.
Sorry to hear. Does the engine run at all? Best to do a compression test to narrow the issue. If you're lucky, I've read of a few cases of just a broken valve spring.
I melted a piston on mine last year and am doing an engine swap myself. Was able to drive over 100 miles back home on 3...
Clutch diffs on road cars are not usually 100% locking and are based on a combination of pre-load with springs and torque applied by the engine or under braking. They're typically more for traction during racing than getting unstuck and can be setup for different amounts of locking under...
If you only hear it while the car is moving it's most likely wheel bearings. Though you'll want to confirm that it's not the supercharger belt tensioner or bearing in the supercharger by listening to the engine with the car parked and the hood open with someone else revving the engine.
LCA bushings are a standard wear item. Replace with Powerflex bushings and they'll probably outlast the car. Upper engine mount and serpentine pulley tensioner/damper are also wear items, probably every 70k.
Maybe my old Mitsu broke me in but I don't find these problems excessive for a 10...
I have an 06 Dinan Cooper S which I bought 5 years ago which has been a great drive but has needed some maintenance which would be expected on an older car. The R53 does not have the carbon fouling problem that the later direct injection engines have.
Just a few things to watch out for which...
Have never had a problem doing a one man brake flush but if the car is pushing more than 10 years you might want to think about removing the calipers and doing a rebuild. You'll be surprised at the stuff that accumulates behind the brake cylinder that does not get flushed.
You might be...
Your plan is good, just make sure you actually remove the connector from terminal and scrub both the terminal and the connector contact surfaces. You can use terminal spray or WD40 to help prevent it coming back. The battery manufacture date is usually somewhere on the label sometimes shown as...
If you're not in a rush that's part of the fun. I looked around for almost a year before buying. Don't be afraid to pass up decent looking cars, after you look for a while you get a feel for what's really out there and what good car looks like. Explore the different car specific message...
I had the 6-speed 540i M-sport on lease and had considered purchasing but at the time could probably have found an M5 for about the same price. That was about 6 years ago when decent E39 M5 prices were a little lower and gas prices were still high. I really liked the E39 but didn't need...
I have a modified 06 R53 Dinan MCS and the common problems on the R53 are front control arm bushings, leaking power steering lines and failed low speed radiator fan resistor. All easily taken care of and may have already been done on a used car or should be taken into consideration when...
Had a large nest of them 2 years ago on the second floor of my house right above my patio and they never bothered anyone underneath so I let them be. They only use the nest for one year and were gone the next. They tend to eat other bugs especially yellow jackets which are much more annoying.
Ultimately it comes down to the specific model and year of the car and the actual car that you are interested in. The great thing about looking at a used car is that you can probably find a forum that covers it and see what all the common problems are and their fixes. If the car you're...
I helped my parents pick a 2009 Genesis over an Avalon. Depending on how you drive the V6 has plenty enough power but where it's going to fall short from BMW is the suspension and handling. This is compared to a 2001 BMW 540i which I had for a while.
Hyundai really cheaped out on the OEM...
My wife has an '06 Murano and so far other than a recall, swapping tires, wheel alignment and welding a leaking exhaust pipe, have done all the other work myself.
I think you need to find a better mechanic. The belts should have been changed when the AC and alternator were changed, just...
Important to note is that the air in the room should never mix with the air from the fire. You want to heat the air in the room by passing it through or over the cavity without mixing with the air from the fire. Don't want to end up with carbon monoxide poisoning.
I just did a similar upgrade from an Opteron 165, nForce4 motherboard to an I7 920 D0 stepping, UD4P. I was at the point where the old motherboard was bottlenecking my raid speeds.
Still testing the overclocking but I have to say the most noticeable difference was from also adding a 60GB OCZ...
Any movie that manages to incorporate Pink Floyd and King Crimson get bonus points from me. Just recently saw Blindness which also has a similar "what if" scenario.
I think it's designed to keep grease on the pin, preventing it from migrating into the empty space behind the pin and helps evenly redistribute grease as it moves slightly in and out each time the brakes are used. Not sure why it would be on one pin and not the other unless the backside of the...
Nice deal.
Here's more info an the quad mix version that came out a few years ago.

The company would have a tough time asking for the severance back especially if you're not getting credit for the time you were previously employed in terms of benefits like vacation, 401k enrollment etc.
Have had a pair of their Aviators for 18 years and just recently got a pair of their Velocitys. Good optics though I'm not into the "S" logo that they now put on the corner of the lens. Got mine from SunglassesGiant.
If you have broken springs on your clutch plate it can cause clunking noises as the engine goes on and off torque. These are the springs used to smooth clutch engagement and not the springs used to engage the clutch.
If you go with a stainless braided line, make sure it does not contact anything else in the engine bay or cover it with plastic split loom or shrink tubing. Normal engine vibrations will cause stainless braid to saw against anything it contacts.
