Asus Strix GTX 970 significantly hotter than MSI 970 in idle?

Yes I have seen that too :) But amenx said that the MSI 970 Gaming version only turns off one of the two fans, which is a surprise to me if it is true, as I haven't seen that mentioned. I thought it behaved in the same way as the Strix.

Where did you see that it is only one fan that switches off for the MSI? The only reason that I'm thinking about the idle temp is because I'm unsure how much it could impact the CPU temps, but perhaps it's so little that it doesn't matter at all :) I never really thought much about GPU...

To make it even more confusing the idle temps in the reviews from Overclock3D are favouring the Asus Strix over the MSI by 8 degrees celsius. Do you think a difference from lets say 30 to 40 degrees could affect CPU temperatures noticeably...

I'm not sure what you mean with run the fat at a slower speed and the other at much faster? Both the Asus and MSI switch off their fans when below a certain temperature - a feature I really like as I like silence, but if the Asus is significantly hotter, wouldn't that affect the CPU load...

Thanks for your reply :) There is nothing important on the HTPC itself, but I have other computers on the network where I have more important stuff. However, if anyone from the outside did get into the local network, why would it matter if the HTPC was remote-capable or not?

NF-F12 very noisy :(

I was referring to the Noiseblocker MF12-P, in the specs of this fan the rpm is listed to be 1000-2000. However, I just saw that there exist a MF12-PS which goes from 600-1500 - maybe that's an option :) I can't find so much info about these fans though, so I feel unsure how they will cool...

Hi, I recently got 2 NF-F12 fans for my H100, but I am really disappointed by how loud they are. They cool well, but once they get to 700 rpm or so I hear a quite annoying sound from them, motor noise I think - it's really loud and I'm surprised that these fans are considered quiet fans...

The odd thing is that they do have a lot more hardware in their shop but they only sell assembled computers with the specific components they list in their configurator - I did ask them if they could install other components but they don't want to do that for some reason :(
