Looks like a great compact cooler however I don't think it would handle the overclock. Compared to the Noctua its a few DB louder and hotter.
Thanks for the feedback!
-Brian
Thanks for the feedback guys.
I just learned that I can not run dual Samsung 950s and dual 980Tis on this board (or many boards for that matter). So for now I am going to just use a single 980Ti and dual 950s, which will all run at full speed.
Unfortunately a custom water loop is beyond...
My potential system (not yet purchased)(specs updated):
Windows 10 64-BIT
Corsair 600Q
Geforce GTX 980Ti (single card, SLI won't run at full speed on this board)
Samsung 950 Pro 512MB X 2
Intel 6700K (goal is 4.5 - 4.8GHZ)
Kingston HyperX Fury Black 32GB DDR4-2666
MSI Z170A GAMING M9...
I need to find some DDR4 ram that is compatible with my Noctua NH-D15 cooler. The clearance height is 32mm or less.
I'm looking for some DDR4 RAM that is available in speeds of 2666 (or more), 32GB (4 X 8), and tight timings (15 preferably).
Does this RAM exist? After much searching I...
I spoke to MSI. They were, how do I put this, less than knowledgeable.
They said that I could use both cards natively however I would lose two of the SATA ports by doing so. With 6 ports I don't see this being an issue.
Like I said they did not seem overly knowledgeable on the...
I was actually thinking about a single 980ti for now so I think that's the route I will go. I do use 32MB on some occasions when dealing with several 42MB Sony A7R II files so I think I'll stick to that for now.
I'm stuck on the storage though. I'm going to use a plug in drive for all my...
Here's the dual SSDs I want to use:

I don't know enough about the MOBO or SSDs to interpret the specs. Does it look like I won't be able to use both? If so...
I updated the build. I was going to buy an Be Quiet 850 Gold PS. Several calculators put me below 800 watts at full load. Think I should upgrade then? A platinum 1K fully modular PS is a lot of $$$$.
-Brian
Funny you brought up the PS as I was just deciding on what one to buy. I was going to get a BeQuiet 850 Gold Plus. This was based over multiple calculators showing I would be below 800 watts. They did not, however, factor in overclocking.
Should I pony up for a 1000 watt platinum then...
I'm looking to build the following for gaming, photography, web design, office work:

I'm having trouble picking and deciding on the right SSD for my build.
My build for gaming, photography, web design, work:

Hi Guys,
I am very familiar with HT and home audio systems however when it comes to the world of computer audio I am a complete noob. The amount of choices/options is overwhelming.
Hopefully if I list my goals you guys can help me out.
My computer is a new build (Intel 477K, GTX 780, Asus...
When I install the Corsair H100i does anyone know if I need to buy two additional 120mm fans to attach to the Corsair? Or are the fans that come w/ the corsair all I need? I'm a little confused on how this works.
Thanks,
-Brian
I made a few minor changes....
Mobo is now a Asus Maximus VI Hero ATX LGA1150 Motherboard and the power supply was dropped to 850 watts. Based on the feedback it seems 1050 was overkill. In addition I dropped the sound card card as this board appears to have a very good, dedicated, audio section.
You guys rock. Thanks for much for helping me out.
A few points after reading your comments.
1. 480 GB should be fine for now. My current comp is 256 GB and only half full.
2. Is the general consensus that the PSU is overkill? Should I step down to around 850? The reason I picked he 1050W...
Hi Guys. I'm glad I found this forum. I am building my computer from the ground up and need some advice. I'm a definitely a noob.
My budget is $3.5K to $4K
System Usage: Gaming (27" monitor UHD), photo editing, web design.
I have picked the following parts after spending hours combing the...
This thread rocks! Kudos to all involved.
I am looking for specific recommendations as I need a new monitor and simply don't have the time to sift through dozen of reviews and explore every technical advantage and limitation. That said I have read several reviews and the primer in the...
