SoftFSB & P3B-F

Anyone out there had been able to change FSB speeds with SoftFSB and ASUS P3B-F?? The clock gen is a ICS 9250, suppported by SFSB, and even I can 'set' the slider to the position I want, but no visible effect is seen (s/w such as WCPUID keep showing 100.23MHz FSB and 651.41MHz clock, for example)

Oh no! are you running it on a 386? Slow paced is the only thing that it *isn't*. The gfx are way above any other similar racer, and playability is an absolute dream using mu MS Sidewinder FFB Wheel.

EDO DIMMS - Buffered or Unbuffered?

Provided that these DIMMs are 16Mbit technology, yes. I don't think it was actually meant for EDO DIMMs, I myself used several SDRAM in VX-based boards. I have never seen VX boards with 1DIMM/4SIMM, only FX and FX-66 boards. However, it's very unlikely that these boards would have just 2 memory...

Who here has the slowest main comp

Well you can't beat me :) It's not my own machine, but I have some AMD 386SX40's lurking around, 2MB 30pin RAM, 10MB 5.25 HDs (noisier than blenders), with CGA controllers (using WFW311). I even have some XT@4.77MHz MoBos here :)

Good Cheap Hardware Modem?

Get any Cirrus Logic MD-5650 ISA (e.g. Jaton Communicator 56K, dunno if it's still being produced) and you'll be fine. These are jumper configurable h/w modems

Men you are complaining about slow 800KBps downloads! Wake up! We here in south america (precisely Brazil) are limited to a 256 KBITS/sec bandwidth, that's 32KBYTES/sec downstream! Consider yourselves happy :) :) :) :) :)

I don't know for sure about this, but as it seems to me, the VX boards used to have only 6 (or 3, dunno) RAS lines (Assuming this is the real word, I don't recall the exact word now). Possibly your DIMM1/SIMM1&2 share the same RAS lines. Then you'd have 3 banks, like: bank 1: DIMM1 or...

According to the P3B-F's manual, the keys' position for buffered/unbuffered and 5v/3.3v are different so these buffered modules won't fit. You probably need 3.3V Unbuffered SDRAM or EDO DIMMs. However, if you're on to SDRAM, whatever they are PC133, 100 or 66MHz rated, make sure they are made of...

CuMine650/ASUS P3B-F overclock

Well I tried other DIMMs but all them failed. And the Itaucoms I have here are rated as -6ns, so I guess it should be enough to run at least FSB 133MHz. It looks like my problem is really Vcore, since whatever selection I pick in BIOS, the h/w monitor always shows 1.68V. I'll try to get a...
