Can you guys tell me about UPSs?

You want a sinewave unit if your PSU has active PFC. I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-CP1...cyberpower+pfc You can have it shut the computer down when the battery reaches a certain level. I don't know about ubuntu, but I suspect it is supported. It works with freebsd on my NAS.

Is long stress testing necessary?

When you are testing your OC on a SB or later chip and you use offset voltage adjustment, make sure you test with various core loads. VID changes depending on the wattage drawn by the processor, and it's important that it's stable under the load of 1, 2, 3 or 4 cores. Just because it's stable...

More like going from a 1 lane 55mph commute to a 4 lane 55mph commute. When there's an accident in your lane, you don't get slowed down (I wish this were a perfect analogy).

Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately I've tried different PSUs, and I think just about every combination in BIOS.. I'm still planning on trying it outside of the case once I get a chance. jayrs keep us posted on how that goes if you get around to it before I do!

Odd computer shut down issues: ATi 5770 just added

What temperature is your 5770 hitting while gaming? Is the fan control set to manual? Reseating the heatsink or allowing automatic fan control may resolve your problem.

Is it possible that there's a grounding issue in your case (no pun intended)? I have noted that when I plug my pump in (it's AC), sometimes the computer will come out of sleep. Though it seems unlikely considering you've swapped everything.. What case are you using? I'm using a HAF922...

ATi Bug--Need massive help

Glad to hear it worked out for you. Re Arcanedeath's post, I have that issue. When I boot into vista via VGA, then plug in the DVI connector, I can get an image through DVI. As soon as I unplug the VGA cable, the DVI signal is lost too. I guess I'll start another thread sometime about it...

Why does vertical sync cause mouse lag?

Do you have triple buffering enabled? It will make everything lag by 1 frame.

If you can get a hold of another monitor or a VGA cable, you can test to see if the video card is trying to feed your monitor out of range signals. Most monitors go into power saving mode when that happens. In any case, myself and many others are having the same problem, albeit its under...
