I seriously don't get traditions such as this. Why should we wear a certain color for holidays. I believe that everyone should have the right to wear whatever color clothes they want. Especially on a day such as today.
I bet everyone has been to a nursing home at some point in their lives. When you're old, and living in one of these establishments what sort of amenities are you going to want?
Site looks fine visually, get them to go tableless layout if you can. It's the kind of thing where 99% of visitors won't notice, so I wouldn't bother if it would mean paying someone else to do it. It's still a good thing to do though.

Maybe if you have a job in accounting or something, but I don't get why it's the default on 90% of the keyboards out there. Obviously keyboards with numpads should still be sold, but I just find most people don't use them.
I like it that way personally. It's not like you use the function keys terribly frequently so pressing the extra button isn't a big deal. What I still don't understand is why some keyboards still have the numpad, I don't need 2 separate keys to type numbers thank you very much.

Most netbooks have built in magnifier software. Even I think I would have trouble reading an entire book on it. You might just want to go with a Kindle but what you have described.
