Looking for a new router

I currently have the LinkSys WAG160N router. Stable, fast, and reliable thus far. I have also used the Belkin N Wireless router and it too was stable and fast. If I remember correctly, it was more expensive than the Linksys which made me choose LinkSys over the Belkin. No experience with...

Dying Router?

Word. Second thing you need to do is go to D-Link's site and check to see if there is a firmware upgrade available. Lots of times, a few minutes installing a new firmware package fixes a whole host of issues.

Poor vista upload speed

Make sure you're on SP1 on Vista. SP1 greatly improved TCP speed over the LAN.

Anything along the lines of Ultra VNC SingleClick?

In my experience, VNC SingleClick has always been the best free software for this purpose. I wish I could give you another piece of software, but if you're not willing to spend money on something like WebEx, then this is your best bet.

Anyone know of a FREE Hard Drive Imaging program?

HDClone Free Edition. Only limitation of the free edition is that you can only clone to a larger hard drive.

Certain sites won't work for me for some reason..

1. Try restarting the router. Unplug from power for 1 minute, re-plug. 2. Click on Start --> Run. Type in "CMD". Type in "ipconfig/flushdns". 3. Try the sites again. 4. If still not working, check the config on the router to see if there's a way you can clear up DNS cache.

Hard drive diagnostic utility?

If it's a name brand computer, you can usually go into the BIOS and do some sort of hard drive health check.

Problems installing Vista

Check your BIOS on your computer to see if there is any option relating to SATA Disk or SCSI Disk that you can toggle. If so, try to toggle it and then re-attempt the install.

smartftp...no longer free

FileZilla and FlashFXP. FileZilla as others have said is freeware. FlashFXP is not, but IMO has better options. Comes with a 30-working-day trial.

How to make Internet Explorer 7 display file, not ask to download

You can create a custom association for an extension to an application. Go to "My Computer" --> "Tools" --> "Folder Options" --> "File Types" tab --> Click on "New" and type in "XML" and click "OK" --> Scroll down to "XML" extension and click on "Change..." to change file type association...

WORTH IT TO SWITCH TO XP 64 FROM XP 32?

Application and driver support in XP 64 is very limited. I have 4GB RAM in my laptop and have used XP32 (knowing that I can't use that extra 1GB). Now, I'm running Vista64 and application/driver support is amazingly good!

Question about annoying Ads

I use IE Pro (google it). It's an add-on for IE that allows you to block flash ads along w/ regular ads. Good luck!
