Wow. 5% improvement from P45 to X48? That's a lot closer than I expected. Maybe P45 Crossfire isn't so worthless after all. Performance is slightly down (online Crysis/UT3 players should probably still opt for X48 if they want to run 1920x1200)... but not as much as expected, and power...

Asus P5Q vs P5Q-E vs Pro

I've researched the differences quite a bit myself... as an Asus loyalist, I just bought a P5Q Deluxe after researching the various differences. Crossfire is irrelevant with P45 anyway... P45 can only run Crossfire in 8x mode (PCI-e 1.1), while X38/X48 is the only solution for true PCI-e 2.0...

Which System to Upgrade?

This probably isn't the best time to worry about "future proofing". Nehalem (Intel) and Deneb (AMD) are both coming (supposedly in a few months). Once they hit, most everything will be deemed obsolete anyway. Especially on the Intel side of things... Nehalem = death of LGA775 socket...

So what does everyone think about this budget gaming PC.

By September, your list is going to look VERY different. Intel E7200 is only $30-50 more than E2220. By September, it wouldn't be shocking to see the E7200 close to $100, especially with Nehalem on the horizon. With 1TB drives being the next big thing... maybe HDD prices fall a bit too...

Hoping for people to be honest on the Internet is probably not the best of ideas. ;) Once the picture is floating around illegally... you can't put watermarks on those illegally-distributed copies. And with some copies existing without watermarks... it's hard to prove that it's "your"...

Is the Intel E7200 wolfdale the way to go ?

As will I... like RallyMaster, I've got my first Intel build planned in about a week or so and plan to use the E7200 as well. The price/performance is unbelievable, regardless of the MoBo choice (still undecided personally, prob an Asus P5 variant). Different mobo... but everything else...
