Dell Inspiron 530 & HD 4850

My friend bought a new Inspiron 530, Q6700, 6GB RAM, and 2600XT stock. Not bad. However, he also bought a HD 4850 with it. He's wondering if the standard 350W PSU would suffice. I've read reviews where loads usually only hit around 300W in standard systems. And we all can't deny that Dell makes...

Sacrifice Price/Performance Ratio or Customer Service?

Well you have to consider, how often do you feel you will need CSR's? Are you going to be doing heavy overclocking? I mean from what I've seen the 4870's have very low failure rate or overheating issues. I have had my 7800GT overclocked for like 2 years now running 24/7 and not a single issue...

In a sense that's unfortunately how it works. And keys, I agree. Think about there only being one processor manufacturer. They could raise the price of Q6600 from $195 to whatever they wanted. Not many people would be happy. Nvidia has always kind of had a bad rep when it comes to...

Sorry, didn't have a chance to check this since yesterday, this thread blew up! I agree keys. The 4xxx series could be much higher in price. However they figured out by keeping the prices just a bit lower they could gain so many more consumers. I mean who wouldn't want to pay $270 for a card...

No doubt Golgatha. I mean I'd switch to whoever was offering the best card at the time. I mean hell I've been with Nvidia since the GeForce MX2. But the results of ATI currently just give a ray of hope of competitive markets again, rather than just one side owning all.

That's a very good point. But it seems with such a solid series release, they seem to finally have down an almost flawless equation. How many people can honestly say they expected such a sharp increase of sales with ATI and decrease with Nvidia. And sure it might not be monumental, but ATI...

If that post was referred to me in any case Zooty, fail. I am currently running an AMD processor. I have no problem with AMD, at all. I back up what I'm saying. The fact of the matter is, they consume a lot more power = higher energy bills, and they run hot. It's not being a fanboy...

Odd artifacts on GTX 280 on ATI tool

I mean I know you don't wanna hear it but chances are the card could be fried man. Try popping off the RAM heatsinks and adding some paste and just letting it sit for a while, or upping the fan speed. Other than that, it seems like the chips might be damaged.

Is there something wrong with my Western Digital WD-6400AAKS hard drive?

Outdated CPU with a newer hard drive that's looking for SATA II. Is it noticable or did you just decide to check it out? If you don't see it decreasing performance, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Oh Lord....E8600 vs Q6600?

*New Build Help* (Build or buy Dell/HP?)

Here's what I can tell you from what I see: Dell is a great company, sure. They offer warranties and tech support. However, it costs more. I can guarantee you if you build your own with the same budget you'll get a significant performance increase, depending on your technical knowledge.

4850 or 4870

Dry spell for good games?

There's just been a slow batch of games. Spore is coming out, that looks pretty sweet. Along with Warhammer :-D Oh wait, MMO's :[ As far as FPS and strategy games go, it's going to be a while. Diablo 3 is in the works, and Starcraft 2 will be out here before you know it.

Priests were meant to do nothing but heal pre-TBC, so says Blizzard. They weren't even recognized until D&T's 5 man of Loatheb, and that almost at the release of TBC, then they got UBER buffed. Not a fair comparison. And the ranks did mean something, that's why they were taken away. I...
