Far Cry 3 worse than Far Cry 2 graphics?

FarCry 3 looks alot nicer to me :S More colour too.

HD5850 owners, roll call!

Still using my 5850, and will only upgrade when it breaks as everything runs fast enough at the moment, plus what is available at the moment doesn't impress me much at the price range I would go for.

new CPU + MOBO

For gaming, the i3 3220 is faster, but your graphics card is more the limiting factor, and the A10 5800K should still be ok. It all depends on what price you can get for each. I can see both those processors the same price myself, so it would come down to motherboard cost if you were looking to...

i5 or i7 Ivybridge CPU for Gaming PC

I've had an i7 Lynnfield for two years thinking hyperthreading would be worth it, but it isn't. Stick with the i5, it is more than quick enough, and I doubt games will take advantage of more than 4 cores any time soon. Might as well save your money!!

By "frapsing" do you mean just using it as an fps counter, or are you making vids? If the latter, of course you'll get micro-stutter, as the hard disk will be overloaded.

Core i7-880?

Also, before Sandy Bridge was officially released, the 875k was still the option as it was much cheaper and with an unlocked multi that even the noobiest of noobs could use to get an easy OC.

Problems with new GeForce GTX-260

Why would the 8400 work with no problems though? Surely if it was anything else, then the problem would occur regardless.

XFX 5770 Issues - Artifacts?

Is it the same monitor causing the problem, i.e. have you tried both monitors by themselves?

How much RAM do current games use?

I used a custom mod with Crysis, and the end level ended up using 3750Mb of the 4GB of RAM I was running, so IMO, for any heavy gamer that uses custom mods, then get more than 4GB RAM. In most situations 4GB seems fine though.

Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R Memory issue

I have the same problem with my P55A UD3 board, latest F8 BIOS, with two 2GB sticks of 1333MHz Corsair XMS RAM, and with only 2GB usable, except rather weirdly, this only happens on first boot up. After that, it shows and uses the full 4GB absolutely fine. If I turn off, and cycle the power...
