[Retired] The LCD Thread

Any 120Hz IPS panels on the horizon? I'm pretty happy with my Dell 2209WA so far, but I will only get rid of it if something better comes up.

Abit IP35 + Q9550 issue

Wait a sec, is this beta bios above more recent than the 18 posted on ABit`s website and dated 2008/05/30? I just got a C1 q9550 for my IP35 (plain), and having a lot of trouble o/cing it. Does not seem to get even to 3.4GHz with some high volts.

New Catalyst 10.7 available now!!

10.7 seems noticeably snappier for win7 aero than 10.6. Otherwise in games I haven't noticed any substancial difference. Also nice is VLC HW accelaration.

Windows 7 on Abit ip35 pro ?

Sorry to resurrect the post, but I'm having a similar issue (although a have a plain IP35 - Not the IP35-E, just IP35). If I enable AHCI in the BIOS (or RAID), the installation says it cannot install on the hard drive. I tried to download "F6" drivers from Intel, no luck. Just being clear...

GTX260 stuck in high-performance 3d mode

You nailed it, buddy. I have a LCD TV that I use as a second monitor to watch movies, etc. Even when the TV is off I usually keep the monitor activated in Windows to save time. Disabling it immediately forced the card back to low power mode. Thanks!

Thanks guys, unfortunately nothing helped. Very strange, I think I'll roll back to the previous driver version to see if it does anything.

GTX260 stuck in high-performance 3d mode

I have an eVGA GTX260 with the newest drivers, and running rivatuner it appears the card is not lowering its clocks when in 2d mode (300MHz core or so), like it used to. Stays constantly at 626MHz (mine is factory OC'ed). Anyone experienced this?

Need to buy a card until April 6th...

Yeah, it seems that MAYBE the GTX275 will have 240 stream processors, but more likely only 216 with a bump in clock speeds which should be compensated for the most part with me getting an OC GTX260. And I read they will only be available after April 12th, so no game for me either way.

Tiger has the same card for $214 (very close to Amazon), and they seem to accept my card and ship to US. Nice to know, thanks. EDIT: Brazil is not on their country list to register an account, so it seems i'm out of luck.

It's an E8400 @ 3.6GHz, my monitor is currently a Sony G420 CRT, so I'll game at either 1280x960 or 1600x1200 with everything on (AA and AF).

I am configuring this baby on Dell's website and can't decide. The Quadro has 128MB dedicated RAM, but I heard it's on the slow side even for Vista Aero (although I'm getting the lappy with XP for now). Obviosly I won't game on this laptop, as I'm getting the 1440x900 screen and these cards...

Good computer hardware store in NYC

I'm going to NYC next week (I live in Brazil), and I needed tips in good stores there to buy hardware, like good RAM (Corsair XMS, etc), CPUs, etc. Earlier experiences with CompUSA and such places are yhat they do not carry much "unusual" stuff (like performance RAM, video cards, etc)...

Yeah, thanks guys. Problem is, I live in Brazil, I'll see if I can RMA the card from here. The issue would be probably having to pay customs tax once the new card is returned to me.

X1900XT fan does not "gain up" automatically

I have a BBA card (512MB), and while playing games, the card's fan does not up its rpms enough, so after 20min or so, I get artifacts or the game freezes. If I use software such as ATITool to keep the fan high all the time (over 50-70%), everything runs fine. I've tried several Catalyst drivers...

It doesn't happen in WMP, just Quicktime. Tried Quicktime alternate, same problem.

I'm having the same problem. Starngely, when I open some menu or option box in the player, the colors returno to normal, but they crap out again I close the menu. Non-HD MOVs play fine, as well as any other video in WMP.

If you have bought an XFX graphics card, did you have a good experience?

My 6800GT runs fine also. Haven't tried to overclock it though. I installed a NV Silencer on it so it's running cool and silent.

No lag, but sometimes games frz for a moment

Try disabling Fast Writes and Sideband Addressing in BIOS.

Well I tried isolating stuff. Tried 300MHz FSB (HTT 3x), worked fine, with a multi of 6x and the RAM at 200MHz. Tried the RAM alone at 250MHz (HTT 4x), with the multi at 8x. Fine. It's ONLY the CPU then. It boots at 2500MHz @ 1.55V, but SuperPI craps out. Too bad... I guess my bad luck with...

Just got this: a64 3200+ Winchester MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum 1GB OCZ Plat. Rev2 XFX 6800GT AMD retail cooler (at 2300MHz, 52C full load) Well, at 10x230MHz, 2.5-4-4-10 1T it runs stable... When I tried 2400MHz, even pumping +5% to vcore, it still gives me an error when running SuperPI...

p4 2.8C ES multipliers

I got hold of this chip yesterday and installed it on an Epox 4pca3+ mobo. But It only lets me choose between 12-14x. Is this a mobo issue or are there ES chips with this narrow multiplier choices?

50Hz refresh in BIOS screen...

Found the problem. If you have a svideo cable connected to a TV, the BIOS and boot screens defaults to 50Hz, wheter the TV is turned on or not. Removing the cable "fixed" everything.

What's the difference between the Sony G420 and G420S?

Well, I ordered it. It seems that this one (which is assembled here in Brazil, by the way, but the tube comes from wherever they make them), doesn't have the USB Hub, speakers and only has one input (which are not important to me). Let's see when it gets here.
