Trouble Booting with RAID card plugged in after firmware upgrade

Someday I'd like to get an LSI, if it is a better card. But it looks like their cheapest SATA III card is $250... Well, I'm really hoping that replacing the card wont lose my array. I think I might be able to pick up another from Fry's tomorrow. Should I hold off on just swapping out the card...

SSD and OS X

Howdy! I swapped out the DVD drive for an Intel SSD in my MacBook Pro. I am getting ready to do a reformat job to properly setup OS X. Did some funny business the first time, like using the 500GB drive for my user profile. Slowed down the computer considerably... So, how can I re-condition...

For those folding on multi-CPU rigs (or i7)

Any way for not i7 or Multi CPU rigs to do -bigadv? I'm using the NotFred client, and already have Big Work Units set to Large and Advmethods set to enabled.... does it not crunch the bigadvs if I'm not capable of taking them on? Would there be any PPD advantage to doing them anyway?

Yeah, in my old MBP (mid-2007) I had everything replaced at one point except the bottom piece of aluminum. When the logic board went out, they gave me a new machine. Had the logic board swapped in that one as well as the heatsink/fan assembly... So, I'm timid :) I would be in a pickle if she had...

Lemme know how that MacBook Pro fairs. I have one too, but would be concerned about running that much heat through it for very long periods of time, even with the fan blasting. I guess I've just had a lot of hardware problems with mine :-P

Its got less to do with drivers and more to do with what GPU language F@H uses. It runs great with CUDA cards, but the AMD Direct Stream isn't being used by F@H, so we suffer. GPU3 should be out someday, which will help. Hopefully F@H goes to OpenCL soon, would be more future-proof if they moved...

Yeah, just ran the 'top' thing and it shows them as a2 cores. as for the ATI card using up CPU power, with the environmental variables, it effectively eliminates the extra CPU usage.

Thanks for the stats! My PPD tanked, I ended up working at home instead of clearing the driveway in -20F wind chill temps... lol. Then had my last two finals of my undergrad career! Graduation on Saturday :D

Finally got my GPU client issues sorted it seems, got my CPU client back to using 4 cores instead of 3 (interestingly, seems there wasn't all that much of a PPD difference as calculated by FahMon). Hopefully should bring me up to about 10,000 or so PPD! Lets go Team 2! The gap is narrowing :D

GPU keeps stopping

My GPU % seems to go between 99% and 90%, so that's good, right? My PPD for the CPU client is ~3600 (using he notfred one), about 4800 for the GPU. Not too shabby :-) I have only bothered to run it in VM, pretty much everyone said it was more efficient so I just ran with it. So no...

First, Mayor Hardin, you are a political genius. And you are correct in each point. After some searching, the EUE errors seem related to setting the FLUSH_INTERVAL variable too high. I had read about it a while back and many suggested some pretty high intervals, like 512 or so. On the F@H...
