C2D overclocking, origional E6600 2.4GHz 4MB L2

Could definitely be the motherboard. But 6yrs of overclocked use can take its toll on a CPU....perhaps its finally reaching the end of its life?

Level 10 gt thoughts

Hot-swap bays are nicer on the Corsair, though still not the most durable units around. The Level 10 has MUCH better air cooling, however the 800d is more suitable to water cooling. Take a look at the AzzA 3000, 10 hot-swap bays, and less expensive then the other two. Not the best looking case...

The biggest caveat is the hot-swap mechanism is incredibly cheap. If you are constantly swapping drives in and out, it will eventually break. The drive sleds are solid plastic, but the locking mechanism is a little piece of spring steel that has a tendency to bend and jam...forcing you to break...

Midsized case with filtration?

Antec P280. Size is approaching that of a full tower, but it has excellent filtration.

Gigabyte Z68 boards...

In all honesty, if you are going with a discrete graphics solution, get the UD3 as the rear i/0 isn't clogged up with video outputs you may never use. Both will overclock roughly the same, with overclocks around 4.5Ghz being easy enough to achieve. Expect excessive Vdroop and Vdrop with these...

I it possible to use two 1TB HDDs in Raid0 configuration

You can raid them, no sweat. But remember that if either drive fails in the raid 0 array, ALL of the data is corrupted. When you are talking about 2tb of data, it can be a problem if you don't backup often. If you want improved performance, just get a small SSD for windows and some progs. Use...

Separate HD for OS = Longer lifespan?

He's saying that the more drives you have the more chances for failure their are. Unlike Raid 0 however, two separate drives are a safer bet, as you will only loose the data on the individual drive that fails, unlike Raid 0 where failure of either drive corrupts data on the entire raid array...

Opinions on 1 and 2 TB HDDs?

Everyone has their favorite HD manufacturer. I wouldn't use a Seagate drive if it was given to me for free....seriously. I've had more drive failures with Seagates than any other drive...I simply don't trust them. I've had failures with Western Digitals too, but the very easy warranty process...
