    GT-R 18,000 mile service.

That's not true in all situations. A small displacement FI car will most likely have a higher HP/L than a NA competitor in it's class and a simple $20 bleeder valve is all you're going to need most of time for significant gains.

    GT-R 18,000 mile service.

Yes in terms of performance it's meaningless. Since we're going wayyy of tagent, the point I was trying to make was: The GTR is worth it's cost. Modifying cars is expensive and if you were to try to build one a car that can match the GTR in every aspect you'd be hard pressed to do so.

    GT-R 18,000 mile service.

HP/l is the "what am I paying for?" element, which coincides what I'm talking about: $/tech. Don't take this the wrong way: Do you own a heavily modified car?

    GT-R 18,000 mile service.

And that 100lbs is worth what in the 1/4m? 0.1s? What if the m5 engine was a 7L? Would it's increase weight make it inferior to the LS7? Doubtful.

    GT-R 18,000 mile service.

And is the Current ZR-1 worth 50K+ for a blower/suspension/brakes over the base c6? The C4 ZR-1 and C6's were/are both halo cars and have their respective mark ups. As far as the current LS3 making more power, sure it does but it still doesn't make more HP/L that the LT5 had and this is 16...

    GT-R 18,000 mile service.

I guess that's directed towards me. I'm here to counteract the anandtech corvette fanboys. As far as being new, I've been lurking anandtech wayyyy before you were around. Agn3d anyone?
  7. E

    GT-R 18,000 mile service.

Yes it's a shame the old ZR-1 had a damn good engine and they got rid of it for a cheaper engine that made less power. Why do that to your flagship car? I'm not saying the GTR is a "god" car. I'm saying for it's $/tech and it's proven performance at the circuit it's worth it's money.

    GT-R 18,000 mile service.

Um I guess you should look up the 1989 gtr. _My point is_ vs American cars there was and still not a car that had the same tech at it's price point. The dsm still didn't have sleeveless block and dsg.
  9. E

    GT-R 18,000 mile service.

And your on the other side of the fanboy fence. I know americans like their big dumb push rods but come on. To say the GTR isn't cutting edge is down right retarded, how many cars at its price point match its technology? Let me know when the corvette counters with intelligent awd, a modern...

Having owned NexEn 5000's, I can give them a thumbs up. Search actual automotive forums and you'll find mostly positive reviews for the N3000's.

Alternative fuel idea: Very simple: Additional compressed oxygen tank

If pure 02 was beneficial, wouldn't we see oxygen kits instead of nitrous kits? Well it turns out pure N2 isn't so useless., as it pull heat away. Without it, EGTs would go through the roof and preignition would be prevalent.

    SRT Or SI

Where's the neither option? The SRT gets respect for it damn good performance, but reeks economy rental car. Si is nice but the chance of getting stolen? If you're going to do road racing get the SRT if it's just a daily get the SI.

    Polishing out curb rash

I maybe wrong but most low end wheels like konig plate the lips to give it a polish aluminum look. You may have a hard time grinding/polishing those sections to match the rest. You can probably grind it out and paint the entire lip with an aluminum colored paint to match.

any reason this isn't a good deal?

I have 215/50/17 Nexen N5000's on my g35 sedan, paid ~$290 installed on all four. I've had them for about 7k miles with no problems, tire noise and wear are good. Did a round trip of Orlando-NYC recently with no problems. I don't know about the N3000's but I would buy the N5000's again.

Problems that come with high mileage? [72k]

Have 122k on my 03.5 G35 sedan. Only issues I've had is the headunit/climate controls going out. I replaced it with an aftermarket double din so no big deal. Other than that, just tires and rotors, nothing major.

There is a TSB for dodge/Chrysler 2.7's. It may not apply to your particular car but It looks like their are major issues with the 2.7 oil system. Check out TSB 08-36-99. It's won't matter if you have a sump full of oil if the oil pump isn't operating properly. If you can, have someone remove...

    Cheap tires?

I took a gamble and bought Nexen n3000 215/55/17 tires for my G35 from a local seller. They're not a well known brand but the reviews were okay. Tires noise is reasonable a,tread wear is okay and wet traction is good. I have about 10k miles on them now with no trouble. Paid ~$290 installed and...

    Car scratch repair question

Read this http://www.popularmechanics.co...ve/how_to/4216365.html It really depends on how deep the scratch extends below the surface. If rubbing compound doesn't help, try picking up a good quality paint pen and try filling in the area as best as possible, compound again and then buff with...

    Jay Leno's ZR1 drive

Big friggen whoopty doo. So what if the big 7L v8 makes 100ftlbs more tq than a 5L v10?. The bottom line is LSx uses old tech. Deny it all you want. The OHV IS inefficent. It needs to die like the rest of GM.

Headlights flicker when audio is turned up.

You can upgrade the alternator but the point of the capacitor is to stop the dimming during heavy power usage. Install the cap and see how it goes.

Show me a link where Nissan officially markets launch control. You can't because its NOT an official feature and it's NOT in the owners manual. Labor Union Demands Killing GM?

While I agree with some who've suggested management and poor designs are the problem, imo the quickest way to get out of this is to file for bankruptcy. That way they can throw out the contract with the union and effectively get rid of the union. I don't see any bankruptcy judge oppose that...

Why are income taxes not indexed for cost of living?

Why should it be indexed? People living in Manhattan live in an area with far greater government supported infrastructure and services. So as far as money is concerned, yes they take home less, but their quality of life is much better ( obviously imho). Money isn't everything...

Should take no more than an hour for both side. No more than 20 mins once you've done a few. The first two tools here work well if you have F+R calipers http://www.mytoolstore.com/kd/kdbrak07.html . You can probably get them locally for $5 each.
