Upgraded Motherboard from P35 to P45

Regardless if it still appears to perform adequately, it's advisable you upgrade anyways(unless you physically cannot, in which cause I say give it a try). Or get the lateast drivers from Intel rather than the "shit-set" CD-supplied drivers.

Any cable will do to connect it to your audio setup. Just grab an RCA cable(or any cable that fits) to bridge the connection. And as far as I know, you wouldn't connect S/PDIF to your video card... it should go straight to your audio equipment.

DDR2 1066 substancially better than 800?

From what I've read on overclocking forums, DDR2@1066's higher clock rate more than makes up for its higher CAS/RAS latencies.

This is true. I don't know if the OP has the hardware for a gigabit network, however. He never said anything about it. But it's definitely a much cheaper alternative to a router with a built in gigabit switch(which often only have 4-5 ports, anyways)

Temperature reading software.

CoreTemp is for CPU core temps, however. I've never seen it read any other temperature sensors.

Thats good news, I've been wanting to see how it performs after seeing how good it looks. I had this same problem. @OP - It's nice to compare the test unit against other units you've reviewed and benchmarked, but it's probably not wise to ONLY include graphs that have all of those on them...

It's usually the firmware on a router that determines if QoS packet scheduling is available. You could try flashing your existing router to something like Tomato or DDWRT, which are third party, open source router operating systems. I'd have to double check, but I'm fairly sure they all support...

I'm not really understanding what you're trying to do - are you just trying to expand your home network availability to include parts of your house that you can't reach with wires? If so, setting up a wireless AP with a WiFi-ready router is quite simple and just the solution. DHCP still works...
