Not sure if my mobo has SPDIF out...

Ah, forgot to mention that bit eh ;) Sadly I know next to nothing about HDMI setups. So good luck. What renethx said sounds promising.

    PSU for an i7 build

Apparently noone recommending the 750TX reads Anandtech's own reviews. :P http://www.anandtech.com/casec...howdoc.aspx?i=3445&p=9 Dunno what other sites say, so you're probably fine off with it. Just see their review first. It's possible their results are specific to their test model...

ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution x58 (Video Preview Added)

Awesome. The X58 chipset + an i7 would be disgustingly fast.

Upgraded Motherboard from P35 to P45

Regardless if it still appears to perform adequately, it's advisable you upgrade anyways(unless you physically cannot, in which cause I say give it a try). Or get the lateast drivers from Intel rather than the "shit-set" CD-supplied drivers.

Not sure if my mobo has SPDIF out...

Any cable will do to connect it to your audio setup. Just grab an RCA cable(or any cable that fits) to bridge the connection. And as far as I know, you wouldn't connect S/PDIF to your video card... it should go straight to your audio equipment.

    DDR2 1066 substancially better than 800?

From what I've read on overclocking forums, DDR2@1066's higher clock rate more than makes up for its higher CAS/RAS latencies.

Looking for a good, affordable router with a working QoS

This is true. I don't know if the OP has the hardware for a gigabit network, however. He never said anything about it. But it's definitely a much cheaper alternative to a router with a built in gigabit switch(which often only have 4-5 ports, anyways)

    Temperature reading software.

CoreTemp is for CPU core temps, however. I've never seen it read any other temperature sensors.

    CoolerMaster V8 Reviewed

Thats good news, I've been wanting to see how it performs after seeing how good it looks. I had this same problem. @OP - It's nice to compare the test unit against other units you've reviewed and benchmarked, but it's probably not wise to ONLY include graphs that have all of those on them...

    Temperature reading software.

The only temperature reading software I use currently is CoreTemp. However, I know that SpeedFan is also quite popular with the performance crowd, though it can be a bit iffy when reading your temperature sensors(last time I used it, it constantly read one sensor as 127C, which would probably...

    limiting bandwidth to one computer

The Premium/Standard/Express etc classes aren't really rate limiting, they're just traffic prioritizing. It's not going to help much unless you've got a connection shared by a lot of people - take a look at the script link I posted, it should help you rate limit the person in question(meaning...

    limiting bandwidth to one computer

You must be missing something if you can't limit someones bandwidth on a host-specific basis - DDWRT can do that. See here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Quality_of_Service and here: http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.ratelimit.single.html for a script on host-specific rate limiting...

Looking for a good, affordable router with a working QoS

I never said DDWRT(or tomato for that matter) weren't valid alternatives, and they certainly are damn good router firmwares, but when was the last time a router came with those pre-installed? I didn't know that the OP was at a knowledge level where he/she was prepared to flash their router to...

New MOBO Suggestion. A little help please...

Currently, the highest end chipsets out are from the 700 series(nForce) and the Intel x4* stuff. You should try and find a board that has one of these, but its on the cheap for the best performance. Dunno what brands I'd recommend, but a good place to start would be a filtered Newegg search -...

    Antec 550 vs Nvidia 9800gtx

You're correct - citing the conclusion of the review, you can see that the benchmark folks are baffled why the other siblings of the TX750 perform a lot better than it does(however it's designed differently - it's not just a bad unit). I suggest the OP looks at another PSU from Corsair or goes...

Intel gen 1 80GB SSD vs Samsung gen 5 SSD

This is perhaps one of the most important comparisons between the drives :) Hopefully we'll see the prices on the Intel drive drive drop soon, and quickly at that. @LTG - Yeah, I noticed. Very misleading. @Redly1 - Are you showing the Intel X25-M or X25-E? The E is the performance...

    Help with file system

Did you make sure both drives are running the same file system, and are of equal size(They don't have to be the same size per say, but the RAID'd partitions do)?

    Antec 550 vs Nvidia 9800gtx

Corsair's power supplies aren't the greatest. See Anandtech's review of them - there are better PSUs for the same price in the same class. They just look fancy. Link too the review: http://anandtech.com/casecooli...us/showdoc.aspx?i=3445

Looking for a good, affordable router with a working QoS

It's possible you had an older model. The one I spoke of was recently issued to us when we upgraded our bandwidth plan up a tier. The router's HTTP interface is by default dumbed down quite a bit, but it's easy to access the more complex features(a lot of which are very handy for router...

    Coolermaster HAF-932

Looks like the nice case for the price. I need a new case for my next build and was considering a Cooler Master to begin with. I like the look of the massive fan on the side.

what is the actual total bandwidth of gigabit network?

Ideally in a copper-based gigabit network you could reach speeds closer to 125MB/s, which is roughly 1Gb/s. There are a variety of factors involved that determine the actual speeds you'll be transmitting data across it, however. These include but are not limited to the speed of the hard drives...

Looking for a good, affordable router with a working QoS

It's usually the firmware on a router that determines if QoS packet scheduling is available. You could try flashing your existing router to something like Tomato or DDWRT, which are third party, open source router operating systems. I'd have to double check, but I'm fairly sure they all support...

    Antec 550 vs Nvidia 9800gtx

If that Antec PSU is rather old, as BlueAcolyte said, it's possible it could be one of the "Bad Antecs". Ideally a nice Antec 550w PSU should be able to handle a 9800GTX fine , however, as Antec has recently established a decent name for themselves in the power supply market. Initially I...

Intel gen 1 80GB SSD vs Samsung gen 5 SSD

Very cool - does this mean the Samsung Gen5 is beating out the new "uber fast" Intel x25-M? EDIT: Err, nevermind, I didn't see that the scale on the graphs was changed between each in the first screenshot. Any real performance boosts in applications that you can see(versus synthetic results...

Looking for a P/S for overclocking

If you're planning on running a crossfire setup with such high end cards(from what I'm seeing, I'm guessing they take a lot of power), you'll definitely want to look at a PSU with a higher rated wattage. A smart PSU wouldn't hurt either - one that adjusts things based on temperatures and other...

Whats The Best DDR3 Ram For The ASUS P5Q3 DELUXE

I didn't even quote the Sandra benchmarks, since those are usually CPU benchmarks and RAM performance would have little affect on it. Anyways, we've derailed the kid's thread quite a bit(granted, I started it, but still). It's worth keeping your mind open about DDR3(as I keep in mind that...

Whats The Best DDR3 Ram For The ASUS P5Q3 DELUXE

I assume this is because he has already purchased the P5Q3. I beg to differ, and I quote the following benchmarks to prove my argument: http://www.neoseeker.com/Artic...ws/ddr2_vs_ddr3/7.html Browsing through the other sections of the review you can see what I'm talking about. Once clock...

    Is this possible

I'm not really understanding what you're trying to do - are you just trying to expand your home network availability to include parts of your house that you can't reach with wires? If so, setting up a wireless AP with a WiFi-ready router is quite simple and just the solution. DHCP still works...

Whats The Best DDR3 Ram For The ASUS P5Q3 DELUXE

I assume because that's what the motherboard supports. If you're questioning that DDR3 is worth it over DDR2 currently, then you are both right and wrong. For the price, it's not worth the performance gain(however, that's changing quickly). For the performance, once DDR3 memory starts...
