But there are ones that don't require a phone at all? I haven't seen any, could you list a couple?
To the many noting that that there are smartwatches with LTE that can be separated from a phone but still require a phone, I'm aware of these. I'm looking to see if there are smartwatches that...
I made two babies and haven't kept up with tech as much since. My wife wants a smartwatch *without* a smartphone, is this possible on a major carrier? How about on a mvno?
I haven't told her it can't be done yet, because I hope it can be. If this can't be done, is it at least in the works? I'm...
I've been reading AT for 10 years, I've read at least 95% of their smartphone reviews in that period, this was the most biased review I've ever read on this site.
It reminded me of a politically partisan reporter writing an article about a strong candidate from the "wrong" party and targeting...
I used the HTC Vive for about 15 minutes yesterday, overall I'm very impressed, the motion tracking of my hands and head was superbly precise and low latency. I haven't gamed in a decade but the first person shooter I played with the Vive was really fun and completely immersive, I'd consider...
Li-ion cells taper when fast-charged, charging 0-80% typically takes as long as charging from 80-100%, the last bits take the longest. Kinda like this:https://www.teslamotors.com/supercharger?_ga=1.140442043.927479050.1389909947. (Scroll down to the bottom of the page)
+1
Samsung hit the nail on the head with the s7/s7 edge, not so sure about the durability of that glass back but other than that not much to improve on.
My biggest issue with iPhone battery cases (and all other battery cases) is they make the lower bezel YUGE, and it was big enough to start on the iPhone.
AT review is up, very "meh" review and definitely not worth the wait. Nothing useful about Samsung pay, no new insight, clearly written by someone who is getting paid by the hour/article.
And is that the band of an Apple Watch I see in one of the pics?
Finding a piece of excellent tech reporting puts me in an amorous mood. I've been drifting away from the AT homepage for awhile but this Exynos 7420 review reminds me of the Anand/Klug days.

Real original info, generated by the...
+1, AT was head and shoulders above the rest during the Anand/Klug era, now they are just one more decent tech site whose reviews I trust to be ~50% accurate.

AT review is up, much better than the very weak AT Note 4 review. Still not nearly as good as Anand/Klug reviews. I came away impressed with the combination of thinner/faster/higher resolution even given the missing...
If I was buying a phone today I'd get the S6, I think it's the best phone on the planet.
But Ars makes some decent points, namely S-Voice really sucks and losing touch-less launch of Google Now is a serious negative. Also flip board sucks, I absolutely hate the way it's integrated into...
Thought it would be interesting to compare this thread to the original iPad thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2045650&highlight=ipad
I was unsure but generally pessimistic about the original iPad, now I carry an iPad 3 with me most places.
I'm more pessimistic about the...
The S6 trades a removable battery, usd card and water/dust resistance for a cool-looking aesthetic, and it does look pretty awesome. I love the side bezels and the bottom bezel, top bezel is too big. For me the big problem is the lack of a removable battery which means the phone's only good for...
I agree p2p would be better from a data security/network robustness standpoint but you'd lose all the convenience of the cloud, I don't see the average Justin Bieber fan going with it.
Gives you control of your data, Much better than Ello but same problem of not so many users. ... I'm almost to the point of caring about privacy/data mining/whatever... Surprised this didn't get more press...
Is it just me or was the AT review disappointing? Josh rambled on with awkward sentences and less insight than usual, he seemed much more interested in the IP6+. For the time ever I thought there were better reviews elsewhere.
