Thanks mate. Yeh looks like that is what I will have to do. On another forum someone suggest I may have had the partition table as GUID and windows cant read that? has to be MBR. oopps.

@ volcs0 - Are all your drives formatted as Mac journaled ? If so then vista wont see them. Format one of the drives as either NTFS or FAT so vista can detect it. I didnt need to load no drivers just selected the sata HDD and clicked format then install... ? I am using x64 vista.

I dual boot x64 vista and leopard and have no issues. I usually hit restart in vista when I want to load leopard (as osx is the default boot). And if i want vista i hold the f12 button and do it through the bios boot selector. But i haven't had any issues at all .. ?

Thanks. I am not after a sata card though. I will give it a go later but I just want to leave my IDE dvd drive connected although have IDE disabled in BIOS and see if it messes with the system or not. A good PCI card for the wiki is the Asus WL-138G V2 - they sell here in Aus for about $20...

Damit. I still can't get audio to work. It works on 10.5.5 then go to 10.5.6 and nope = nothing. I did not install the DSDT, it is connected to the right audio port = audio is fine on 10.5.5 but not on 10.5.6. I have done a complete reinstall and still nothing. :-S cloned my present install...

I had issues upgrading via software update with my actual macbook, so I would use the combo update. I updated via combo update on my hack and it is fine just no onboard audio. Will have to get one those usb sound cards or something one day.

I couldn't get taruga working in 10.5.6. Tried the applehda patcher in your package although it still didn't work .. :-S I know a member replied a few posts back with how he got audio working by using a different method - I will test that out later.

You can, I dual boot x64 vista. I also have my osx backup on the 4th sata port and it boots fine, have also cloned from and to the mac backup and the main install and all worked fine. Just hold F12 on startup and a little BIOS boot selector comes up.

the extra cache won't matter because the e7300 has a higher clock speed, thus it outperforms the e6550 in benchmarks - and that is at stock speed. My e7300 is on stock HSF running 3.2ghz and 1300/FSB - it has benchmarked on par with stock e8400 and q6600's. The temps also sit on ~30C idle...

but still... we are talking about running it through vmware, not native, so its not the same thing. Like I said I have x64 vista on a separate hdd install - that runs fine, vmware in leopard just doesn't like it, gives an error during install saying the system is not 64bit capable or something.

That is the same with me also. I have a similar CPU, the E7300 and it will not let me install x64 vista through vmware. I settled for good old XP (32) for vmware and have x64 vista on a separate HDD install.
