    Help me decide - ECS K7S5A/Duron 1.1 or Gigabyte GA6OXT-A/Celeron 1.1

Quoch.......go for the K7S5A! In a few months if you want more speed you can pick up an Athlon XP 2000+ and that K7S5a will be luv'in it!!!!!! If you go with the Celeron you are stuck with a socket 370 motherboard that won't run ANY higher end Intel Processors...like the Pentnium 4 for instance.

    AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it normal for a CPU to cause this sort of problem? I have an 800 duron I'll try, but it seems strange that the CPU would work, then not work... Man I keep thinking this thing isn't getting enuf power, but that Antec 350 should crank it up shouldn't it?

Need help choosing a modem for ECS K7S5A

I picked up 4 Zoom 56k pci in the refurbished bin for $9.00 each at newegg a couple weeks ago. All 4 worked real well too. If they don't have the refurbished I'd suggest getting the OEM they have. Good modem fur sure, and no ones better that newegg to deal with!

    HELP!

Ok, I did have the ATX cable plugged in the second time, and got nothing. I tried resetting the video card, and also the RAM, ect... still dead. Is it possible the surge followed the 40 pin cables from the CDROM and Hard Drive to the motherboard? God I hope I didn't cook everything....

    Allied PSU's

I picked up an allied 300 watt for an ECS K7VTA3 and snapped everything together only to find the puter wouldn't boot. Soooo I grabbed a 400 watt allied and stuck it in. It wouldn't boot it either. Sooo I grabbed my trusty old 250 deer and stuck it in. Boom, power & puter! I figured I'd...

Ack!!! I broke a capacitor UPDATE

While installing the card in the slot, I snapped a capacitor off the back bottom corner of the board. I have the capacitor, and both of the small wires appear to be undamaged on the capacitor. I didn't not power up the machine so it shouldn't have hurt the card. I know where it goes, but... -...

    Checksum Error - ECS K7S5A

In many manuals they make battery changing sound like brain surgery...like you gotta run a wire up your butt or something. It ain't that tough. Power down, off, and unplug. Reach in that sucker, snap out the battery, take it to Radio Shack and get another. Reach in that sucker a second time and...

Pick one: ECS k7VZA rev 3.0 or EPoX EP-8KTA2L

Pick one: ECS k7VZA rev 3.0 or EPoX EP-8KTA2L

The K7VZA is a pretty stable board, but is very picky when it comes to RAM. I tried PNY and Generic and neither worked so I went with Crucial, which works well. The VZA doesn't overclock well either. But I'm not an overclocker. I enjoy it's stability and speed, and it does everything I need. I...

Printing Problems with HP DeskJet 672C

I had the same printer with the same problem. It started happening when it was about 2 1/2 years old. I cleaned it with a cotton swab and got a new black ink cartridge, but it still did the same thing. I gave up and bought an 842c. It was cheaper than investing in the repair of the 672c, and the...

Do I have my IDE devices set up right? (HDD, Burner, CD-ROM)

Is this a machine that you built or did she buy it somewhere? If the jumpers on the CD ROM are set to master and the Writer to slave you really shouldn't have a hardware problem. There shouldn't be a problem with the CD ROM and Writer sharing the same cable either unless it's a buffer underrun...
