Athlon X2 6000+ High Temps?

I got an XFX NForce 590 SLI board. I *think* it only supports AM2 sockets. I'm reluctant to buy a new fan or chip, as I might as well just buy one of those cheap Fry's combo for $50 CPU+Mobo.... Prolly runs faster than my X2 6000+. I will give that open case a try and post the CPU-Z...

Athlon X2 6000+ High Temps?

Darn it, while in leaving my computer on "Choose Boot Device" the fans started turning fast. I went into BIOS and looked at the temperature. CPU was scorching hot at 75C and while I was looking the computer shut itself off! I used to run this all day long fine....

I think the only thing left to do is try and adjust the voltage. Cool'n Quiet is enabled in BIOS. Not sure if it works, so I will give mvbighead suggestion a try and report back. What are the actual voltage supposed to be for this CPU?

Well, I have bad news. I ran the HW Monitor while watching a movie on my computer. Notice the CPU fan was really really loud, so I looked up the temperature and it was a whopping 77 C on one core, while the other core was 57 C degrees. I stopped the movie, waited and the temperature went...

This thing used to auto shut itself off, but so far so good. Didn't know a little thermal paste would make that significance of a difference. Thank you for helping me out (dma0991 and gevorg) and for continued follow up (dma0991)!

Athlon X2 6000+ High Temps?

It looks like my temp is around low 30's C. Maybe the thermal paste just needed some time to even itself out.... I will report back if it goes back up with usage. edit: that is for the core and the systin/cputin and auxtin are in the 50+ C range. Not sure how these all connects....

I will install HWMonitor to read the temps (since RealTemp doesn't work on AMD): 1. the fan is definitely working 2. Cool'n Quiet is enabled 3. The heatsink is attached with a clip so it is definitely firm and thight. 4. There are also plenty of holes for the hot air to come out of case...

Random Shutdown?

I believe I have t he 65nm, 512KB L2 cache version rated at 62C. My case is an Antec P180, but it shut itself down even when the case was wide open. The only thing I can think of is the CPU needs some new thermal compound, but would the temperature increase that much with old thermal compound...

CPU and MCP Temperature Too Hot?

I got this from the motherboard bios setting under "System Monitor" (I think that is what it is called). My bios is phoenix award.... I'm assuming that means hardware reading.

SO I got this kick @ss motherboard, the XFX nForce 780i, and so far very happy with it. However, I noticed that the temperature is about 50-60 Celsius and the motherboard chipset (MCP) is hovering around 70-80 Celsius. The CPU is an E8500 with stock heatsink/fan and the MCP has a big heatsink...

There were only 3 pins or so bent, and I straigthen them as much as I could. The CPU went into the socket without a hitch, but wasn't 100% straight.... Is it still ok?

Well, if that is the max I can use then that is the end of that... but I'm not sure, which leads me to the second question that you are asking below. I assumed that I would get 3.5GB assuming that addressing the video memory was not part of that addressing just like a hard drive space...
