I don't know how I missed it earlier but the directions for installing the memory fix were right there in the first post. I will try that method over the weekend to see if there any difference versus the guide in the most recent zip package.

Is anyone able to give some more detail about the above instructions? I have an 8600 GT and would like to make sure I am installing it right.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking it was something to do with the card itself. Are all the 8600 GT like this (no matter the company who made the card)? I wish I had done some more research and bought something more compatible.... oh well.

I kind of have the same problem with my Zotac 8600 GT 512mb card. It has dual dvi (though i am using a dvi to vga adaptor). During the initial installation I had the monitor plugged into DVI port A. Everything went good and after completing all the post installation steps I went to change...
