Just an update. Pulled the HX620 off of the case and did the paper clip test numerous times with the PS loaded by a fan. Nothing. Did the same on an older Antec 430 and the fan started so I think I know what I was doing :) and that my HX620 is dead.
Need help on another thing. I do have a...
Hi!
So I turned on my rig this morning to check emails. Booted up to XP and just sat idle for like 15mins while I talked to the wifey. Suddenly, the PC just shut down by itself then we smell something burning. I was like WTF!!! I dunno but my first instinct was to restart it to see what...
Since my 8th grader did a report on the Pacific War, and have read bits and pieces of the European Theatre.
Now he's asking me if there's a move that I can recommend that he can watch to see both the Pacific and European side. I've seen some in the past but can't remember which ones are the...
Thanks all.
I think I'm going to shoot for 1/3 - 1/2. Gonna have to get the couch in there and see how it looks. Yeah, looking up on the screen to watch movies is very tiring on the neck as that's how it is now on the temporary stand with the exact couch we're going to use in the family room.
Hi there!
Almost got my family room done. I have a tilting wall mount for the tv and was wondering how high off the floor tv is supposed to be mounted?
Is my understanding correct that the vertical center of the tv should be at eye-level for best viewing comfort?
Thanks in advance
Man, am I full of dumb questions today {guess that's what happens when you don't get to sleep finishing up the family room so it's ready for the electrician to hook the power up :P)
So I'm totally convinced to just get the receiver and now just deciding which one. Got DirecTV, DVD and soon BD...
Wow! Thanks both for the quick response and sharing your insight. Extremely helpful, +reps to both of ya.
That's one of the main purposes of my post. The HT-S6100 comes with speakers and sub but since my Minuettes have 4 satellites, 1 center and 1 sub, I can save $$$ as you said and just...
Hi All,
Just finishing up my family room, smallish, roughly 12x14, so viewing distance can be between 10-12ft. When we did the rough in, we just wired 2 surround and 1 back speaker. I don't know why I did that but one reason I have is due to the layout of the entry into the room, only 1 back...
If I'm not mistaken, on the highest setting (FXP; 1920x1080;17Mbps), I can record 1hr2min on an 8GB card so that's roughly 129MB/min
Edit: Nevermind, just realized you were asking about the HFS-100 and not the HF-100. Sorry. But from Canon's website, HFS100 @ 24Mbps will do 2hr55min on a...
The 560B works out better than I expected. I actually got 2 monopods to begin with, one just the plain ole monopod and the 560B. The stability the 560B provides is much much better than a regular monopod as you don't have to exert extra effort to balance out the rig. The 560B's base has a...
Kaido, great post. The time and effort you put into writing this post is much appreciated.
I picked up a HF100 a month ago based on your advice and responses to forum questions. Along with that, I also picked up the Velbon DV-7000, GorillaPod and other bits {guess from who's recommendation...
I have a HF100 as well as a Velbon DV-7000 tripod. While the Velbon is great, smooth pan/tilts, I find it rather bulky for the tiny HF100 when on the move or even shooting school shows from the benches.
So am contemplating to getting a monopod. Found a few but the Manfrotto 560B...
Wow! 2 days to convert 13GB, makes me scared now to work with m2ts files :)
I have Vegas Movie 9 and HF100 and have about 6hrs of footage from my recent vacation. Got the HF100 just 1 day before we left so video was not as I wanted but shot mostly 30p which is better in low-light than 60i...
That's exactly how it was like the first or two times I inserted the SD card on my HF100. Maybe it needs some breaking-in? Coz now it ejects rather smoothly.
Hi!
Hopefully a quick question.
So have been testing my HF100 and ran into some minor (I think) issues with playback on XP.
The clips play back fine on my TV if played from the camcorder.
So to find out how to backup the data, I loaded the clips into the PC (XP SP3) using Pixela. Tried...
Hi!
Have yet to receive the HF100 (yay, tomorrow it is from B&H) but I'm preparing for an 8-day vacation where the HF100 will be first seen in action.
Will bring the laptop with me as well as a 500GB FreeAgent GO. I did get 5x 8GB Class 6 SDHCs for approx 5hrs of footage but want to make...
Thanks all for the insights. I've been reading and reading till my eyes fell off. In the end, I decided on the the HV30 but ............................
And it's a big but. After a hard-fought fight ;) the wife likes an SDHC-based camcorder instead. It's mainly going to be hers so she's got a...
Never used 4gigs on my P4C800-E but I've used as much as 3gigs, 2x OCZ Plats 1GB and 2x OCZ Gold 512MB. It worked fine.
The pairs should be installed on the same color for dual channel to work. I had my 2x 1GB on the blue and 2x 512MB on the black.
I never dared try the stock cooler as my intent was to oc the Q9550 right off the bat. And nope, you don't need expensive cooling for 3.4GHz.
I do have a Q9550 that I run either 3.83GHz or 4.12GHz and is being cooled by a Xigmatek HDT-SD964 ($30?). Fully loaded by P95, the temps max out at...
I don't know about other brands but the G.Skill DDR2 800s have served me well on my UD3P. The mobo manufacturers really cannot test every single bit of RAM out there, even Gigabyte states that. I did tons of research on the RAMs here on AT before I got the G.Skills.
How well has the G.Skill...
The op pretty much sums up what I'm trying to find now with my setup and is the main reason why I've been looking for that FSB and/or CPU Freq that will allow me to lower my voltages thus lowering temps but will not greatly affect overall system performance. With my Q9550, I went straight to...
Wow, thanks for the link on AT's writeup on the UD3P @ 500fsb. I am able to do 500*8.5 but will only last a few minutes doing P95 so I guess it was all about my voltages.
But the voltages seem to scare me :)
Vcore 1.425V
MCH 1.36V
VTT 1.38V
PLL 1.70V
What that hey, maybe I'll just try...
Have you tried opening up the stock cooler? When I took the cooler off of my Sapphire 4850, there are dust inside the heatsink, where the fins are. You would need to pop the plastic cover though to clean it out. The fan will not show much dust but it may be inside. And when dust collects on...
Thanks all for the great responses/advice.
I now feel better about the oc and temps.
I might not even get close to the kind of stress P95 or any stress testing apps can do to the system. Once I get to doing more video-encoding, I could probably revisit it but so far, it has been good...
TidusZ: you got awesome oc there on your Q9550, with good temps to boot. Would you say the lapped TRUE played a huge role in attaining that oc?
Would you be so kind to share your bios settings? Or maybe you already have a thread about it that you can direct me to? I can maybe at least try...
Just to update my op.
I ended up buying a stock ATI cooler for the 4850, hacked the heatsink so the VRMs and the adjacent chips {don't really know what they are - shader cores maybe} are all cooled by 1 solid piece of heatsink. Then hacked the plastic cover so the fan can pull air in and...
Thanks. Was hoping for an easy way out but looks like just need to copy the saved games if need to switch.
Just got used to other games where multiple profiles are allowed :)
Well ..... I re-ran P95 last night, both Small and Large FFTs, but this time just 2-hr durations as IDK suggested and captured the temps.
Small FFTs: 65 (Min); 68 (Max)
Interesting is that the max of 68C was reached within the 1st 17mins then after 20mins, it leveled off to between 65-66C...
Thanks all for the tips/advice as well as props for my oc. Gotta agree myself, hitting 4GHz was great. I even had it running also up to 490*8.5, and I can at 1.328v. 495*8.5 and up is where the drama starts. I can hit 500*8 and be stable for about 1.75hrs and 500*8.5 for only 15mins LOL :)...
Thanks for the reminder. It's almost sounding like my 69C core temp is high for my current OC. As if I do IBT, it might literally Burn my Q9550 :( :( :(
Look like I'm going to stop my MicroCenter after work today ;)
Great info here.
Just one thing that crossed my mind. If I'm not mistaken, AVCHD captures at 1920x1080 while HDV captures at 1440x1080.
I have a 42" plasma. Would the difference in resolution be really discernable? I would think not but would like to hear your thoughts on this too...
Not sure if this has been covered before ...........
But I just picked up the Orange Box and was surprised to see that HL2 allows only 1 profile. Am used to COD and Crysis that allows multiple profiles. Sorry, am new to the HL world.
Is it possible to have multiple Half Life 2 profiles so...
Since my thread was bumped, thought I'd post an update.
Had my rig all the way to 500*8 as well as 500*8.5
At 500*8, with 1.344v vcore and the G.Skills at 2.0v (5-5-5-18), Prime95 Large FFTs (as suggested by IDK) lasted 1.75hrs. All cores failed one after the other
At 500*8.5, with 1.36v...
