So I have 2 issues, one video card related and the other CPU speed related.
1. Video Card
I have a GeForce 9800 GTX+ but when I got to System Profiler, I find this:
nVidia GeForce 8600 GTS:
Chipset Model: nVidia GeForce 8600 GTS
Type: GPU
Bus: PCIe
Slot: PCI
PCIe Lane Width: x16...
If anyone is looking for a hack compatible video card, the PNY GeForce 8600 GT 256MB is available from newegg for $15.99 after $25 mail-in rebate. It's a Shell Shocker deal so it's only available until 1:00pst today.

I bought one last month but I've yet to install it. Hopefully I did get the right one.
I recently bought 3 iPhones (two 3G's, one 2G through Craigslist) for myself, my brother and sister and we are all on TMobile. So far it has worked out great!!! I even managed to get the $5.99 Tzones on all 3 iPhones. We're on a family plan and we're paying about $35 a month each. The only...
To Kaido or anyone else:
I'm looking for the 10.5.7 or .8 (whichever one runs better) DS3L and UD3P Kit. I have 2 hacks running 10.5.6, which I might add run wonderfully, but I need to upgrade to 10.5.7 or .8. I need to access the iTunes store (iTunes 9) but it won't let me unless I install...
I used the Hard Drive method. I was having problems screen sharing as well but after re-installing the r1000 driver w/uinstaller, everything is working perfectly! Thanks a bunch!
Thanks for the replies guys. For now I'll leave it as it is since it's decided to start working now. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope it stays that way. I'll end up picking up a PCI ethernet card anyway one of these days.
So this morning I turned it on and I received an error message stating the RealtekR1000 kext was improperly installed. I pressed ok and then opened up safari and voila, it worked! I'm able to connect to it as well. Not sure what the problem was since I restarted a ton of times last night and...
Yup, I did the Uinstaller and checked off the "Ethernet fix".
Are there BIOS settings we have to set for this board? Was something posted? I didn't see anything.
Anyone get any issues with LAN not working? I just put together a media center with the g31m-es2l board and LAN is the only thing giving me issues. I've reinstalled kaido's g31m kit a few times and even verified to make sure the realtekr1000 kext was installed in the right location. I've...
I need some insight from you guys. I'm waiting anxiously on Kaido to put up the tutorial and parts list for the media center he is working on. Looking at his Twitter updates, it seems he'll be using the 2600XT ($99 at newegg) for the graphic card. I was just at slickdeals and ran across...
I pretty much consider the guide finished sans the video. I used it, followed it to the letter and got a perfect install. I know Kaido is updating it for 10.5.6 but if it gets updated for every release, technically it will never be finished. If Kiado wants to add more support for more...
Yup, you hdd needs to be in one of the 1st 2 ports. I kept getting the same issue as you QurazyQuisp and my SATA devices were setup just as yours but following mosslack guide and tips I was able to install and dual boot. I'm not sure how to link to a post but you can find the post on this...
Yeah they're now working for me also. The 1st time I tried it I was only pressing the play button on the video itself and it wouldn't do anything, then I tried pressing the play button in the controls at the bottom and it worked.
mosslack thanks for the quick guide on installing vista. Can you answer one question for me? When I try selecting the HDD for Vista to install in, I get a "This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer BIOS menu."...
Yup that's what fixed it. Kinda wish that I didn't have to go through 8 installs to figure that out...
One small note you might want to add to your guide. Initially I wanted to install Leopard using the "Hard Drive Installation Method" but I wasn't able to. The steps require you to partition...
Figured it out!!!!
It was my hdd, it was too f%*#ing big! I created 2 partitions. I made the main boot partition 500GB and the other one came out to a little under 900GB. I installed everything per the guide and voila! No more boot0:error!
Re-installed again and left out the "Apply EFI String for Video Card", installed 10.5.5 and i still got the boot0:error.
The previous install where I said the screen redraws were laggy actually fixed itself after I installed the 1st batch of updates from "Software Update".
I even tried...
Brand new HD, partitioned to GUID as well. I'm reinstalling right now (3rd time's the charm).
Edit: 3rd time was not the charm. I even installed the DSDT patch, but still getting stuck at
boot0:GPT
boot0:HFS+
boot0: error
I did a quick google search and I believe it has something to...
So I ran into a hiccup. I was able to install 10.5.4 (via DVD), opened up UInstaller and installed everything per the guide (I skipped the DSDT patch), installed the 10.5.5 combo and then rebooted. When it's booting though, I'm getting a boot0:GPT boot0:HFS+ boot0: error.
If I put the boot...
This is perfect. I'm still waiting on my video card (my ebay seller became retarted) so this is perfect as I can at least read up and be prepared once my system is up!
According to a Comment he left on his blog, the video is taking longer than expected.

It looks like it's going to be a Monday release.
Thanks for rabbit quick response! I feel a little better now but still feel very noobish at all the possibilities which I don't know about. I've been giving myself a crash course the last few weeks or so but there is just so much information and no way to test things out since the pc i'm...
