I want to lock a Thunderbird-B Multiplier to 10. How?

Just connect socket AL27 to nearby socket AK26 with a fine wire strand u-loop, then re-install cpu and heatsink. AL27 connects to the 1X Bit Value signal bus. AK26 connects to Vcc = Vcore. Connecting both resets the 1X Bit Value signal bus from default LO to HI, adding 1X to the default 9X...

L12 bridge mod alternative ???

Hi Soulkeeper, 25309.pdf should be the Palomino datasheet and it has no ref's to "FSB_Sense" pins, also shows NC = "no connection" for the AH30 and AG31 pins marked as FSB(1:0) on the Tbred/25175.pdf pinout diagrams. So could be that this function began with the Tbreds, not available on...

how to unlock bartons?

Default for Barton 2500 is 11X, L1 bridges are closed, so the only mod/s needed might be to reset the 5th bit from default LO to HI if you want/need Multipliers higher than 12.5X. (previous post says to close the 5th L3, not true as the 5th L3 is already closed from the factory). See...

True only "in the beginning"...then later AMD "has published" that their PR ratings were also comparable to the Intel P4s. And that still stands currently. John C.

If you're interested in if and how your mobo/bios responds, test the following.... Set 5X, 5.5X, or 6X in bios User-Defined Multiplier mode and see if system boots at 13X, 13.5X, or 14X respectively. It should if your mobo is capable of resetting the "1st 4 bits" of Multiplier Code. If it does...

If you read carefully...opening the last/5th/rightmost L3 bridge (or an alternative resetting of that bit HI) is the "first and absolutely essential" step. But it might not be "all that is needed", depends on the mobo/bios. Look at the list of 6 or 7 operations like getting into the bios as...

Masking = a very good idea, but also consider this...peeling off the mask might pull off conductive material. So we'd be sure to use non-conductive material and installed neatly so no need to remove, risk destruction. Then also 1 more idea...check for removal of ground by testing Multiplier...

Yes, the second L1 bridge from the left. Explanation... 1600 has default Multiplier = 10.5X which is set by having the .5X, 1X, 2X, and 4X Bit Value signal circuits set HI. These are the 1st 4 L3 Multiplier Bridges and 1st 4 L1 bridges from the left. So we see that the 1X Bit Value is HI by...

Tech question on T-bred B, and pins

You cannot literally "close" the bridges via pins, but you can "change" the default HI or LO settings of the L3 Multiplier bridges via the pins, as long as the L1 bridges are closed...which they are on Tbreds. http://www.beachlink.com/candjac/index/htm link to Workarounds article for circuit...

wire trick unlocking 2100+XP = missing multipliers?

The only other thing we can think of is related to the so-called "wire trick". That usually means grounding the 8X Bit Value signal circuit with a fine wire loop inserted between socket AJ27 and a nearby ground socket like AH28. This is done to gain access to the lower 5X thru 12.5X multipliers...

We're assuming your mobo i somehow able to try to reset the default multiplier....... If so theny Your system is not able to reset the 1X Bit Value signal circuit from its default LO to a HI. That's why you are missing every other integer Multiplier that needs the 1X signal circuit to be HI...

gnawrot, Was really late at night and we must of been sleepy...anyway....we figured out what the "5th switch" does. Your mobo must be an older Duron/Tbird 4 bit mobo with no switch for the Palomino/Tbred 5th 8X Bit Value bit. Then your 5th switch must be for toggling between Auto/jumper-free...

First we convert your 1s and 0s to HI and LO signals. Looks like your 1 means LO signal and your 0 means HI signal on Multiplier signal bus. This is different from normal 1 = HI, 0 = LO, but it's just nomenclature and you can change yours to comply with standard. We print "your code" and compare...

does anyone know how to cut bridges and re-attach them to upvcore on a t-bred 2100+

Bios is "not needed"....default signals from the "CPU/L11 bridges" go "directly to the Vcore v-regulator. So changing bridges changes those signals. Bios can over-ride if mobo is designed to do so, but as we said...it's not absolutely necessary. BTW, this way AMD assures its chips won't get...
