CM Hyper 212 Plus Fan Options?

I've spent 3 days scouring the internet for some kind of solution to this issue, and as far as i can tell, we're screwed. Literally EVERY lga1156 heatsink review i've read, which is a lot, for some reason these heatsinks are being designed in a manner in which they cover your first ram slot...

Considering 2 diff builds. Opinions desired ;-)

My biggest concern at this point with the i5 is that it uses a different cpue socket than the i7. Whereas ultimately the best of the best procs intel is going to be position to be used in the LGA1366. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by limiting my processor options to only low-mid end...

Yeah, the rational parts of me is in 100% agreement with you on the C2Q build, but the nerdy computer hardware part of me is leaning towards the i7 build just cus its "new", so to speak. As for the OC, i wasn't referring to the limits of the proc, but because of my current mem being ddr2-800...

how can I run sound to a receiver and computer speakers?

Well, the mobo doesnt have a digital out that i could see. If it is HDMI, you might have the option of doing LPCM via HDMI, but thats gonna require a pretty new and decent receiver. As far as i know though only a select few ATI and nvidia cards are able to do lpcm via hdmi at the moment.

E6600 OC, CoreTemp question...

Cool, i was able to hit 3.4ghz exactly still at 1.376v and it actually only hit 60c, so essentially it was only 1c "hotter" than at 3.29ghz. I tried going up to 3.46 but it would crash shortly after hitting the desktop. I'm assuming that was probably a voltage related issue since i can't see...

E8500 & DDR2-800 questions

Well, unfortunately due to my case choice (Coolermaster Praetorian 730) i am extremely limited in heatsink choice due to height constraints. Basically the heatsink cant be over about 110mm high. Unfortunately that leaves me with the "Orb" or "flower leaf" style coolers as options.

Dual Opterons over Core 2 Duo?

Absolutely wrong. Most games don't even support 2 cores, much less 4. Supreme Commander right now is the only game i know of thats actually optimized for and utilizes 4 cores. Crysis says its supports 4 cores, but nobody has been able to get the CPU utilization above 0 on more than 2 cores...
