    For Gaming i7-7700 or Ryzen1700?

Seriously? Te topic of the thread is i7-7700 or Ryzen1700. It was not about the 7700K, but the regular 7700. You know the one with a clock speed of: 3.6Ghz-4.2Ghz. (or 14-6% lower)

    For Gaming i7-7700 or Ryzen1700?

If you want to choose between a i7-7700 and R7-1700 then the only correct answer should be go for the R7 1700. If you however consider alternatives like the 7700K, you should also consider the alternatives on AMD side like 1600 or 1600x. Keep in mind that you probably won't notice the...

    Vega/Navi Rumors (Updated)

Well that result would be more believable and more in-line with expectations. It is also clocked @ 1600MHz which is also more in-line with the expected clock of VEGA. Doesn't mean that number is more or less valid than the previous one... Just that I prefer to believe these numbers over the...

Warhammer 40K Dawn of War III (GameGPU)

Why couldn't that be the case? 4770K specification: 3.5 base - 3.9GHz boost 6700 specification: 3.4 base - 4GHz boost Seems like both of these chips will have very similar in performance. So in this case they measure a difference of ~6% where the base diff is ~3%. So all that is well...

Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

The 1400 will still be faster by a big margin. HT alone will give a rather big uplift, but the cpu's you are comparing also have a big difference in frequency: the i5 - 6400 has a boost frequency of 3.3GHz, the 1400 -> 3.45GHz. (probably gives similar ST performance) The base frequency of...

Giving it does not seem to have an impact in a lot of well threaded applications, I wouldn't say it will be a bottleneck before we actually see it in action.. The penalty seems to be very limited to gaming. In the average cases AMD HT scaling is far superior than Intels. See the stilt...

FYI: i rectified my post in less than a minute, so try not to be condecending will you. how the calculations happened is our guess, only thing i'm seeing is that the perfromance difference is smaller than the perf/W difference. Simply put if I can do 2 times your job in the same hour. but I...

I understand the sanity, but to be honest things don't add up according to me... but maybe it is to late to think about math for me... I took the easiest one to think about --> handbrake Ryzen needs 4minutes33 seconds in handbrake I7 needs 6minutes27 That would make Ryzen ~30% faster...

Ryzen 1800x at 5.2Ghz. Sets a new record on Cinebench

Did you even read your own link? The 7700K (intels fastest 'gaming' chip according to some) wins 2 benchmarks. (of 6) The 6800K wins 2 (or 3 benchmarks). (of 6) True, the other results are virtually tied (gpu bottleneck maybe). Like pointed out in other threads against you, these results are...

  11. R

Official AMD Ryzen Benchmarks, Reviews, Prices, and Discussion

That is a GPU bottleneck. Overclocking a 4c8T cpu in that test won't change that bottleneck at all. What that review tells you is that the models with more cores have a higher cpu limit. So if you pair it with a faster gpu, you will get better fps than with the 4c8t cpu. (in those particular...

Probably because the results are scewed due to overclocks on the intel side. I you look at the graph below, you can see where the results are including the deviation. They also report themselves that the Ryzen was overall faster. (taking into account that it is comparing an average result...

well the idle power consumption was 40W. So assuming that the other components during the test consumed as much as the cpu in idle mode, you would have 114-40W = 74W delta on the power cable.. PSU efficiency of 90% would give close to 67W. So close enough i guess.

AMD Ryzen (Summit Ridge) Benchmarks Thread (use new thread)

Your assumption being that scaling from 4 to 8 core is the same if the memory configuration stays the same, which is highly doubtful given that we see huge memory impact on a quad core. That said, this discussion has much to do about nothing. We already know these are synthetic tests... and...

^ This The clock difference between 7600K and that 4c/8T ryzen is ~8% for single core. note: If we assume that the X boosts higher (reported to be 3.9+), you might even have a boost advantage for some or well cooled ryzen samples. Also important to note that the i5 7600K is a 91W TDP model...

[AT] Radeon Instinct (Vega) HPC card Announced

Why would scaling of Fiji to Vega be similar as that of maxwell to pascal? That basis alone is rubish Maxwell ->Pascal had barely any performance improvement in terms of ipc. [WCC] AMD Rolling Out New Polaris GPU Revisions With 50% Better Perf/Watt

Strangely (or not?) the rumours are in line with what we expected from polaris from the beginning. There we assumed from leaks and others that a 480 would be closer to 90-100W (related to 480 CF being more efficient than 1080 with slightly better performance in a specific game, while in reality...

    Gears of War 4 Benchmark

Difference is rather small in pcworld. On Ultra 1060 Founder is 3% faster then 480 reference. In short, seems like they used a pre-release rdy drivers from nvidia, and not game ready drivers from AMD. Just to clarify, since you make it seem as if AMD had a driver advantage here.

AMD Fires Back - Radeon RX 470 Review

So in short: Difference in TPU are rather big between the 470 and 480. Seems 470 is throttled by power consumption compared to the 480. Power consumption is still at least 40W too high for the given performance. (if they want to compete with nvidia that is). So not even the 470, a stripped...

how do you come by these numbers? If you go by the difference between smaa and tssaa you should also take the initial difference of those two into account. on opengl TSAAA is almost 10% slower than SMAA. In vulkan it is almost 10% faster than SMAA. So the difference is > 15%

Bit misleading as the original flop numbers are completely wrong. 1070 has a flop rating of 6.4TFLop. That is without taking the overboost into account. Could range anyware from 6.4 to 7.2TFlop (1.9GHz) Same story for the 970 980,.. 980 ti has 6Tflops that can range up to 6.7TFlops (1.2GHz)...

I believe, like many, that power efficiency matters alot when talking about the architecture/design of a card. And polaris is (although there are outliers) pretty bad at it. What does this mean? well scaling up such an architecture to compete with 1070/1080 and higher will be a huge problem...

AMD Polaris Thread: Radeon RX 480, RX 470 & RX 460 launching June 29th

it really isn't.. expecting better efficiency than 28nm gpu in the same performance ballpark is the least one can expect. In this case average performance is lower than 980 AND consuming more power than a 980. It just means polaris doesn't scale at all. They already need more power then...

indeed. The only selling point is price. Everything else is basically fucked up. The only way AMD stands any change this iteration of gpu's if the 480 would consume ~100-110W. They missed that milestone by 50%. 460/470/480 are basically screwed if nvidia lower the price of 970/980 or...

Well it is slower then the 980 AND consuming more power and is barely any smaller than a 980 This for a card on a smaller process.. I expected a lot more... this performance with 110W would be ok but going over 150W? Nvidia doesn't need a 1060 to compete, they can compete with the 980 just...

AMD Polaris Thread: Radeon RX 480, RX 470 & RX 460 launching June 29th

But that doesn't make sense. We know how the 470 would perform from AMD. We know that if the 470 is ~15% away of 480 that it has a huge deficit in flops -> performance Either we believe 470 is close to 480 and thus AMD has a big regression in CU performance that only exists with 470 (480...

I don't think anybody expects 980ti level performance. Most people expect 390x/980 performance.. (which honestly doesn't stroke with 470 released benchmarks.). Others expect Fury performance (e.g. between 980 and 980ti) about 20% slower then 1070

The 3dmark of videocardz is not really that reliable right? That would imply that 480 is ~10% faster than 470. That would imply 470 would have 2048 shaders (at least). Which doesn't fit with the released benchmarks of AMD of 270x versus 470. (which actually fits better with the rumour of...

I used the rumoured core count of 470 ~2048 and clocks of 1200. which gives: 4,9Tflop. If we would go by the 1536 we would have around 1536*1200 ~3,7Tflop which would make alot more sense going by the difference in performance between the 270x and the 470x.

AMD Polaris Thread: Radeon RX 480, RX 470 & RX 460 launching June 29th

So in short: 3dmark the 470 is ~60% faster than the 270x in hitman it is ~115% faster. overwatch 470 is also ~60% faster 270x ~2,7TFlops 470 -> ~5TFlops? (2048*1200) Meh Seems GNC4 generation is not really improving efficiency at all.
