Brand new SoundBlaster Live! drivers finally here (11/29/01)

got the new drivers, but that damn devldr program is still giving a lot of problems. It degrades the stability, gives blue screens and causes delays booting and shutting down. Is there a way to disable just the devldr ? it is not listed under startup apps. does anyone know what this program...

installing apps to all user accounts in XP

when I first installed winXP, it asked if I wanted to share all files and installed applications with all users. I chose yes, but now I want to change it. I would like each user to have their own set of usable apps and visible folders. Can this setting be changed after installing, or do I have...

    Power Supply Fan...

I just swapped a fan in an older (1995) power supply for a new sunon 3 pin. The connector was 2 pin, but the wires were reversed. So I turned the connector around and jammed it on until the plastic orienting tab broke. Ham-fisted solutions like this are not the best, but they are quick :)

In MBM my 12v goes from 12.2 to 11.9 - is that a big fluctuation?

How to tell if powersupply is overloaded?

I have a duron/abit kt7 raid system with 2 case fans, 1 drive, radeon. When the activity increases, the fans change speed ~150 and sometimes the supply itself gets warm to the touch. Im pretty sure this is not normal. My supply is 250w, 12v line is rated at 9 amps. Am I putting to much strain on it?

Where to add case fan- front or back?

My case temp is steady 10 deg C above room temp and i would like to lower it by getting a case fan in addition to the one in the p/s. Is it better to put it in front drawing air in near the hard drives, or put it at the back below the power supply drawing air out from near the cpu? I would think...

    Thermaltake Volcano II, any good???

Thermaltake claims it will handle up to 1.5 GHz, so if it doesnt handle it then it can be returned. I would personally not get it for a 1.5 tho. Scraping off the pad and using radio shack compound reduced my cpu temp 10 deg C !! Keeps my duron 850 (@850) at 30C idle (same as my case temp), 40C...

    3dfx pulled from online stores?

I will definitely get a voodoo card. I am hoping the prices drop more before stock runs out. I am not worried at all about driver support as I currently run a voodoo 1 4meg with drivers that are 2 years old. I still get up to 40fps in unreal tourney. I just keep updating my directx. The voodoo...

Please clarify: Can pc133 RAM be used as pc100?

I am running a single Infineon 128meg PC133 cas3 stick at 100mhz cas2 with my k62 450 no problems. But I have not tried a combination with any other memory sticks.

3DFX is burn't, but out of the ashes, may a phoenix rise?

Since Glide was the best part of the voodoo line, what are the chances of Nvidia using it in some form with the detonator drivers? Probably none, and thats a shame. It would help performance and make development easier (yep im anti Micro$oft)

Came back from an Intel P4 seminar!! :(

the 820 boards had 2 sockets for dual channel ram bus. the 850 boards can have 4 sockets but still only dual channel. thats why the rimms have to be installed in matching pairs (ie 2x64 meg = 128). this is a step back to the pentium 1 with the paired simms. you may as well have only 2 sockets...
