It is possible to mount a partition/drive into an empty folder.
e.g.
drive c = hdd1
drive d = hdd2
temp (empty folder inside root of drive d) = hdd3 (was mounted into the empty folder temp)
What happens if I...
I just setup my old PC with winxp with a computer name "test1". The PC is not connected to a domain and is part of the default workgroup. I have created my own account which is a member of administrators.
When I try to remote connect to it, it seems to connect fine but then I get the XP login...
thanks for the on topic replies :)

whatever reasons I chose a mac over a windows laptop are my own and completely unrelated to the topic :)
I just got the laptop today. It's a work PC and as such, I need to install win7 for some of the software we used.
When I said install, I meant I'll wipe the disk (or maybe just delete the HFS partition) and then install Windows 7. Is this the correct way of doing it? I thought of boot camp...
I have indexed all of my Drive D. I have selected several extensions that must be included in the index. One of these extensions is .wav.
When I search for "*.wav" in my D drive, nothing comes up. But when I disable the Window Search service and try again, it works.
Any ideas?

back in the early 2000, these were famous for starting the use of "heatpipe" technology in CPU cooling (from what I remember).
I'm just wondering what is there performance when used as northbridge coolers.
If you are using one as a northbridge cooler, please reply:

I want to install a video card on the 1st PCIe 16x slot and and raid card on the 2nd. The card needs 8 PCIe lanes.
How do I know that the 2nd slot is providing 8lanes?
thank you! :)
so it's a problem with the chipset and not the drives?
I suppose you experience the problem using HDDs other than Samsung F1?
thank you for the reply :)
I have 2 F1 750GB connected an an ich7r (and now ich9r) and it seems one of the drives likes to drop from the array regularly. It degrades the array so I had to rebuilt several times.
does anyone had similar problems?
thank you.
i have an raid1 array here. the 1st disk has gone missing from the config. but the 2nd disk is intact.
I deleted the partition on the 1st disk and I'm hoping to use intel matrix manager to rebuild the mirror.
Every time I select the 1st disk for the rebuild, I get some sort of message...
I have a Thermalright Ultra120 extreme and a Noctua NH-U12P.
My question is: Would either of the HSF fit with the top-exhaust fan installed? I asked since a similar HSF (found in a review) to what I have conflicts with the top fan.
thank you :)
tagan makes OCZ power supplies. I'm sure I'm read that somewhere when OCZ first introduced their PSUs.

I have a obsd firewall/gateway. This PC has 3 NICs:
nic1:connected to ethernet DSL modem
nic2: 192.168.1.1/32
nic3: 192.168.2.1/32
nic2 is connected to my LAN and nic3 is for the DMZ.
I'm trying to understand how to setup djbdns on the BSD box but I'm getting confused.
I have read...
Am I able to transfer it to another chipset like Promise, NVraid or Via raid (built-in into SB) without much hassle?
It's just that I do not have access to another P4 board and I really really want to stay away from Intel for the time being. :)
Thanks
Can it accept Hynix D43 RAM?
I look at the driver support site and the LAN has 2 drivers? a nvidia and a marvell? do I need both? If yes, what do I install first?
Anything that you might want to share. :)
Thanks
still off topic.

I'm sure the person who started the thread can easily search this forum and find numerous AMD vs Intel threads without your help.
A member of an Australian computer forums mentioned that the Intel channel roadmap does not mentioned EIST in the J CPUs.
Also this publicly available page (http://www.intel.com/products/...essor_number/info.htm) does not discuss EIST with J CPUs.
Anand's Intel roadmap talks about EDB and...
well I was having problem getting my 9700pro recognize the TV.
I browsed the ATI support site and found this (http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/3056.html#no%20load).
It mentioned that I may need to buy a "75 ohm load" so the tv can be correctly recognize.
Well my cable is a 75 ohm coaxial...
Do I have to drill holes on the motherboard tray so that this heatsink will fit?
I had a look at a review in hardocp and thought that the height between the board and the tray isn't enough to fit the mounting system.
Thanks for the reply.
