Pls help me choose a better GPU

You didn't say what monitor you have. If you have a 10-bits/channel monitor (only available on DisplayPort) and if photo editing is really important, I'd recommend a workstation graphics card capable of rendering 10-bits/channel color: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814195096...

Attention System Builders - 2011

Thank you for a very informative thread. My last build, almost 3 years ago, was a Phenom II X3 720. It still does everything I require of it, but I'm thinking of going Sandy Bridge for a new box and putting this one out for my wife and kids.

Upgrade from HD 3300 IGP now or later?

Thank you, both. I'm not suffering any performance issues that would force an upgrade now. I'll need a card to support the resolution of the new monitor but, as you said, I'll get more card for the same money or the same card for less by then.

Canon ImageCLASS MF4350D

Phenom II X3 720: Unlocking, Overclocking, and ACC

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit RC (Build 7100) and have no problem booting with ACC on. I am on an AM3 board, however. I'm at stock frequency right now. On my mobo, to unlock the fourth core, you have to enable both ACC and a separate "Unleash" mode in BIOS. Maybe there is some similar setting...

Finalizing build

I see the price of the still-unobtainable 4770 has gone up $10. It's getting out of bargain territory. I've read in some older threads that ATI cards handle colors more faithfully than nVidia. I'd be interested in knowing if this is still true, since I'm building a new box for similar purposes.
