Compaq to sell Alpha?

<< What Im wondering about is what will happen with AMD? AMD use information/hardware from Alpha for there EV6 bus. I wounder if that would give Intel access to some of AMD's secerts? >> I doubt it. AMD and Intel, although market rivals, actually share quite a bit of information.See here.

I'm not saying that I believe the rumours. I was just shocked to hear this story from a half dozen different sources in one day (including an employee in the Alpha division (ex-Digital) who says that he has heard the rumours and that he wouldn't be at all surprised if they were true)...

Compaq to sell Alpha?

Has anybody here heard anything from a reliable source that supports the rumour that Compaq may sell its Alpha assets to Intel (or possibly AMD), possibly as early as this Monday?

new Radeon W2K drivers, GO ATI!

Has anyone tried the new drivers yet? I've only heard of two people so far, one who reports no major changes and one who reports a huge increase (in Quake 3). I'm especially interested in the D3D BSOD issue in Win2K. I'm downloading the drivers now.

I've been searching for the best prices for Socket A Athlons for a few days when one of my friends suggest I try http://www.insight.com/. I knew that they have bad prices, but tried it anyways. I've never seen a 1GHz Thunderbird sell for $50305.99. Wonder how many they've sold? ;)

I've been checking prices ad nauseum, but was wondering if there have been any rumblings that a general price chop of GeForce2 cards was imminent. What I'm hoping for is a significant across the board price slash, enough to make me wait one more week before buying the card.
