My new Core 2 Duo setup is on the way:). I can't wait check it out

Funny. Lots of people with AMD XPxxxx chips here. Like me (XP1700+). I told myself I wouldn't upgrade until dual core chips got more reasonably priced. That day is here........now I just need to wait for a better selection of MBs to come out.

How many of you here are still using Athlon XP rigs?

Main (and only) system is an Asus A7V333 with a XP1700+ @ 1.9 ghz. About 3.5 years old now. When I can buy an X2 for <$100, then I'll upgrade (come on Conroe!). I'm surprised I've lasted this long. I only had my previous systems for no more than two years. My Win2k system still works well enough...

Windows XP User Account Help

I set up a friend's user account on her new Thinkpad laboriously, customizing programs, menu layouts, themes, etc etc etc. A lot of work. Now when I took her laptop to the college network I realized that I could not get this account to connect to the college domain, which gives access to network...

*OOS* AMD Athlon XP T-Bred B 1700+ OEM - $44 shipped

I got one of the DUT3C JIUHB's. Not too bad. I'm easing it in at 11x175 (2 GHz) for now at 1.6 volts. What's interesting is that the info wasn't on the core, it was on a sticker. I can imagine them making a batch and going "OK, we need 20 1700s, 20 2100s, and 20 2400s" and just slapping...

Just some advice for getting price tags at best buy. Take the price tag, walk over to one of the printer/scanners they always have set up. Hit "Copy". A minute later you have a photocopy. Simple. Then return the price tag.

285/570 Not great, but this thing really spanks my old Geforce2 GT2 around. I can really crank up the AA and anistropic filtering now and still get better performance....

if you RMA do you still have to pay the restocking fee? the a7v333 i ordered came in a bare box, nothing else, and is pretty scratched up. i found a better deal elsewhere for a complete set....

will I need two separate recepts? why couldn't it work on one receipt, you just make a copy. as long as there are two separate addresses there could always be the possibility that one person just paid for two sticks and his friend took the other one and paid him cash....

I've installed win2k on one partition of a new hard drive but I can't figure out how to partition the other half because it's not showing up in the OS after loading (b/c it hasn't been partitioned) and I don't know what the win2k fdisk equivalent is. How do I format the other half? Thanks in...

Help with hard drive recognition. Please.

Ok, this is an easy problem, but I'm lost. I'm installing a new hard drive on my computer and I'm making it the boot drive. Since it's an 80 gig drive I installed Windows 2000 on a 15 gig partition. But the other 75 gigs aren't showing up in windows and I'm not sure how to get it to NTFS. What...

can you drag files across different folders in windows?

i know in the mac os, when transferring files, you can click and hold an item over a folder, and the folder will open after a few seconds. From this you can transfer items across several directories. For win2k i find i have to open a the target folder, which is really a pain. is there a program...

cd labeling kit for gf. What to get?

Are you sure it's a good idea to give computer hardware or accessories to a girlfriend as a gift? I think flowers, chocolates and even the most basic jewelry will work better. But then again, nothing says "You are special to me" like a CD labeling kit. Wait, I got an idea, get your mother 128...

my burner is busted (i think)

my ricoh 6624 burner reads cds but it doesn't recognize blank cds. thus i cannot burn anything. i've reinstalled the software i'm using (adaptec create cd 4) and tired literally dozens of blank cds, and multiples kinds. are there any other things i haven't thought of doing? and don't tell me...

win2k problems - extremely sluggish!

win2k on our quantex pentiumIII 600e started crashing a bit, so i decided to reinstall it. now, ususally when there are lots of graphics on the screen, the computer slows down to an unusable level. the mouse scrolls about 30 seconds behind actual movement. the screen can't update itself quickly...

computertechs...Why better at 130 fsb than 155 fsb

well, it would help to actually have your system laid out... i can tell you that the memory timings make a big difference. mem running at 222 will still be faster than at 333 at a higher frequency. if you are fiddling with multipliers also, it is certainly possible to increase the frequency...
