You can get a plain 9700 for about $220. So if you were thinking of buying a Ti4200 for $130 then obviously the 9700 is a better deal. However if you're getting a Ti4200 for like $80, it would be hard to pass that up.
Theres a thread on HardOCP listing experiences with nForce2 boards. the 8RDA pops up a lot as having trouble, more than it should. Just a friendly heads up to anyone spending their hardearned cash. :)
I'd play 1024x768 at 4x Anti-Aliasing with 8x Ansiotropic with V-Sync turned on. If I had a LCD I'd do 1280x1024 w 2x Anti-Aliasing and 8x Ansiotropic and V-Sync.
Nvidia is in a really crappy position do you keep the Ti4200's pumping out, because lets face it if its between a $120 ti4200 or a $149 5200u or $200 5600u most people would go for the Ti4200.
But if you do that then you kill your FX line of cards because you won't sell enough to get decent...
The 5200 ultra is a $149 card and in most non-FSAA situations especially hi-res it gets clobbered by the Ti4200. Nvidia really screwed up across the board this time.
If you're overclocking that could be the problem, also check your bios settings, try turning off fast writes and sidebanding. If the memory timings are really aggressive it could be that causing crashes not the videocard.
Aside from that do a clean install of XP with all the proper 4 in 1's...
It'll underperform the 9700 non-pro cost more and if its ever released be 8 months later than the 9700.
Theres no reason I can see to get at all excited about this card.
Got bad Crucial ram a few months ago, the first bad stick i've ever got out of about 20 total sticks bought from various companies. Just one mans experience, don't kill the messenger please.
From what I've heard Nvidia is vehemently opposing 3dmark2003 because their Ti4xxx line obviously dont support pixel shaders 1.4 or 2.0 so cant run all the tests. And supposedly their forthcoming lineup of cards based on the FX line arent going to be full DX 9 either, so no wonder they're...
Whatever Gainward has in store with its '7db' card one thing is sure, whatever tech they're using to cool it will raise the price of the card to $449+, so basically that makes the card irrelevant since by then 9700 pro's will be $250. I don't care if you're the biggest Nvidia fan on earth the GF...
IT'S A DUD! The card scores way worse with Ansio and AA something 90% of people with these cards use, the card is over a $100 more expensive than the 9700pro not to mention the noise and heat problems. For some I guess Nvidia would have to ship dog turds in a box before they'd say somethings a...
Bf1942 is simply just a crash happy game, I can play Mafia and RTCW and never get a crash ever, but with Bf1942 it crashes every 1-3hours without fail.
For me to have gotten excited about the GF FX it would have to be priced at $200. As it stands know its somewhat like the release of the Voodoo 5500, poorly designed, too expensive, too hot. I'm going to wait for 9700 pro's to hit $200 and then get one with a Zalman silent cooler.
I have trouble believing a review that has no screenshots in it(Toms Hardware) this is a video card review right? Also Anands article seems more indepth, they point out Nvidia's deceptiveness in their 2x AA settings, they're honest about the noise of the thing, to any enthusiast that is a big...
Strange how 3dfx cards always had heat problems, and now Nvidia cards do too.
Lets face facts the cooler is ridiculous, and is an obvious desperation maneouver. The thing is 60db according to HardOCP!!!
For comparison a Ford Mustang Cobra is 55db in idle!
You're equating opposing war with people opposing individual soldiers. This isn't a valid argument. I guarantee you that the minute a soldier's buddies head gets blown off and he has to wipe the brains off his fatigues, he'll likely be opposed to the war too. Who wouldnt fight if his family or...
Its not going to be anything more than a niche product. Hercules obviously has an axe to grind with Nvidia since they got screwed over by them, so ATi probably gave the nod to the water-cooling idea.
If marketed the right way the water cooling thing can be turned into a plus.
Theres always...
Theres no advantage to DDRII except for the speed of it. Supposedly regular DDR is approaching DDRII speeds so DDRII is not a big deal. A 256-bit bus is a big deal however.
I can vouch for that! The S300 is great for webpage printing since its fast and the ink is cheap but as far as picture printing its not good for that, prints looked a lot worse on the S300 than my roommates 960 HP deskjet.
Personally I'd try sending it back and getting a different 8500, if you overclock to 250/250 the card will run hotter plus it will likely be less stable.
I'd say Radeon 9500pro it has double the pipelines of the Ti4200 and it uses DX9. You should be able to get an ATi retail card for about $180, you can get a Sapphire OEM for about $160 but personally I'd get the ATi card.
