I want a good overclock that would last for 2 years and is safe. I like the Q9650 @4GHz and I may just have it at 3.6GHz till the last few months I own it or plan an upgrade.
I would not get the E8400 becuase as of right now it is overpriced compared to the AMD Phenom II X3 720 Triple-Core CPU. You can get the P2 720 for $144.99 at Newegg.com $20 cheaper than the E8400 which leves you with the E5200.
I'm with you there all of Intel Dual-Core CPU's right now are overpriced. Speaking why is becuase the E8400 is $164.99 at Neweeg.com and AMD's Tri-Core Phenom II X3 720 is $144.99. $20 cheaper and one extra core. But if you want an upgrade I would get the E8400 any ways. But if you want a cheap...
another thing to think about the price of the E8400 compared to the AMD Phenom II X3's. The E8400 is about $20 more than the 720 and $40 more than the 710.
Question why are you going to buy an E8400 when it is overpriced now that AMD's Triple core's are $20 lower and have one extra core. And some can be unlocked to Quads?
are you talking about werxen? Any ways with Realtemp at 4GHz it reports my CPU temps at 60c full load. I guse with 45nm you have to configer the system. Maybe you should pop your head up and tell them your story on this chip at tom's. I want to see that werxen's replies. :)
hey Flipped Gazelle. I'm wondering what batch # did you get? Is it the 0904 batch or somthing else?
I have this heatsinkhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16835702007. And it has cooled my Q9650 at 4GHz very well.
