Want to harden my home network, looking for advice

I second the Sophos UTM recommendation. I've used this for years using their free Home license, and will most likely be moving my business to it soon since I like and am familiar with it now.

I have a GTX 980 I leave overclocked now at 1508 Mhz Core/7800 Mhz mem, and I can max Witcher 3 @ 1080P 60 FPS with the exceptions of Hairworks off, and foliage detail down to High. If you still have dips, you can turn shadows down to high. Everything will look amazing and you're really not...

Gigabyte Gtx 970 G1 or AMD R9 390?

I think the relative prices you can purchase each for should matter. Also, if you overclock, you're right, I think that GTX 970 probably gives you a lot more headroom than the 390 would... something to consider. If you plan on doing only 1080p gaming, I don't think the 3.5 vs. 8GB of VRAM would...

I have this feeling that since users can't buy Fury/X, they're buying 390/X

I'd be surprised if any 980 ti showed up in the next three months in the b stock store. EVGA used to let you sign up to be notified when the cards not in stock are available, which is what I did for the 980, but for some reason they don't appear to let you do that on all cards any more.

Nice! That's a good overclock. I moded my BIOS and it seems to have worked out well enough... Although I could up voltage a little and overclock higher, anything over ~1550 Mhz with higher voltage usually generates too much heat to allow for quiet fans... either I'd have to crank those fans up...
