Computer Won't Shut Down (possible power supply issue)

I'm positive you have hardware damage. I don't know which but the mainboard or the power supply is at fault. There is something that regulates the flow of power into the board and components which seems to be the malfunction. my guess is the device is part of the board. You have to test these...

Windows 7 failed to start

for the monitor problem you should post the model of the monitor. Perhaps that is a bug with that monitor. Those are very strange issues, never heard anything like that with monitors.

Old build with long standing bug...

This is a bit confusing and I'm betting a lot of this has to do with motherboard design. If I understand correctly, you should have at least 3 options for the hdd in BIOS. IDE, AHCI, and a 3rd one RAID. Even though you may not be setting up an array, try it out and see if there is any effect. As...

Strange speaker feedback problem/issue

using the onboard sound should pretty much tell you what is wrong. If the problem persists on the onboard sound then your next step is going to be to try a headset maybe and see if it persists. Whatever is causing it has to be identified first, through isolation.

if your not going to game heavy, you can get away with some of these new integrated solutions. They aren't as bad as they used to be. You can always get a dedicated later if the integrated proves to be too weak. Go ahead though, show your support of nVidia or AMD, I'm sure they will be happy to...

If it was about money, I would go AMD. If you have the money for an Intel, it is certainly better in performance, but it's best to check the benchmark charts to determine which is worth it more. The tasks you mention can really be done by just about any processor sold right now in either camp.

I "disable speedstepping" but it's still here

It's been going for 5 years. We all know computers get hot. Every computer I've had gets hot and spins a fan to cool off, so my point in mentioning the heat is that when you have a computer that is normally hot and the fan is on a lot, it's strange when it becomes passively cooled.

I'm using a Dell E1705 and I've been trying to figure this problem out for at least 6 months if not longer, but after paying attention to a little detail I skipped I've worked my problem out. I too disabled Speedstep in BIOS. What I found was my t7600 never actually hitting even 1GHZ when it is...

Catalyst 9.6 Drivers Released

I seem to be having trouble. Vista 64 with 9.6 on a 4870. I played 3 games of COH and all 3 crashed midway into the game. I took the fast way and didn't uninstall the 9.2 that was in, so going to try a clean install now and see if that helps.
